If we're going down that rabbit trail, there are also all the live players that don't want the devs to dedicate the time to it. Since the devs stated that instancing would have quite a large effect on live development for the year.

Honestly, EQ1 Live still being operational ties up a lot of players that could form the basis of a playerbase for a new true EQ successor (which EQN is NOT).

Anyway, back on point, if they can't spare the man hours, they ought to have said so before. But if that's the case, then they need to increase spawn times, tinker with banish mechanics of some format, etc.

    What difference does that make?

If EQ1 players are paying for all access, they are paying. If they go to EQNext, they are paying. There is no other EQ successor on the horizon, as much as we would all love to see one come to fruition.

I don't argue from the gaming company's profit point of view; gaming companies can take care of themselves in that regard. I am just saying that EQ is a 16 year old game, for which many players might like to see a substantially similar game done with a brand new engine and graphics; yet because so many won't let go, all the players who could form the a foundation for a playerbase for such a game are still tied up. End result being - players looking for an EQ game must stick with EQ - a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Note: I am not talking about an HD remaster or "reskin". It would still be a new game, but just very very much inspired by EQ.

It's always good to have a hero around to remind us how famous he is:

I'm liking his posts more and more to be honest. It's a pretty funny character that he's doing.

Take a look at Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen. It's a ways off yet, but looks to be very EQ inspired.

As someone from a tier 2 raiding guild during the first 4 expansions of Fippy, I think instancing would really help retain a stronger population longer. People always get all fired up for classic/Kunark/Velious.....until they get a taste of how raiding used to be/still is. You get a couple guilds who fight it out for supremacy, while the rest of the server basically waits for them to get bored and deactivate until the next expansion. When we all played initially, we were kids or college students with nothing but time. It's a little tough now to sock a mob for 12 hours when you work 50+. Some people play progression to re-live and re-create their uber days(sorta like the guy serving you burgers talking about their high school quarterback days) but the silent majority just want to relive the glory days they're misremembering(ie no more hell levels, corpse runs, druid/shaman res etc). The only real negative to instancing raid mobs is there "may" be less smack talk in general, whereas it seems the positives of keeping a paying fan base longer would outweigh that. Because what the vocal minority keep failing to mention is if you're not in one of the top raiding guilds, you're generally raiding an expac behind the rest of the server. And forget earning an epic during the first 3 expansions: your options are pay a boxer for Phini loot, or pay one of the top 2 guilds for the dragon scale.

Just a thought, it's early and my grammar sucks before 10.

As others said, massive ego makes one an easy target.

Reduce the level of hubris and I'm sure you'll see less people picking on you as well.

You are just assuming i have an ego problem because of my fame, i don't. If you would like to discuss the issues, im down. No hate.

In TLP circles I'm relatively famous (as well as before to an extent - only really used Aszuth for a hardcore character pre-TLP twice though, and one of those was pretty darn casual [and the other was as a cleric, something few associate me with now!]) - I don't go around constantly mentioning it, although I do take a moment of pride each time when someone says something like, "Oh, so you're Aszuth - I liked you" or "Hey, you're the guy that lead DHS on 2.0, they were awesome".

But I don't go out of my way to promote either such talk, even though I appreciate it, I often try to let it go ignored, frankly. It's not constructive and really just sets me up to be a target from others for various reasons, be they because of past interactions or because they just want to see ego notched down a little bit.

It's just a word of advice, someone who promotes themself as above the masses makes themself an easy target. That's all.

Especially when it's someone I've never heard of before. Famous for trolling a dead EQmac server and trolling an illegal server? Sounds legit bro, you should be proud.

I can't wait to see what happens when you get around to doing the Velious kings or even better the blobs from Vex Thal - and Lord Dj.

Kaas Thox Xi Va Aten Ha Ra (of the top of my head, don't sure!) I hear is really active in pollstering I hear.
