I just lost a protect-the-NPC quest because of the following: Autoattack on aggressive NPC, banestrike casts melee round kills NPC instantly I tab I get the NPC I need to protect banestrike finishes casting, kills the NPC I'm protecting, with autoattack off quest fails, I lose hours of my life; quest is no longer available until server resets.
I would normally agree that this is a playstyle adjustment, but for some classes the Banestrike is essentially an aggro tool. Making it autofire is like putting a hate proc aug in your weapon. The player should be able to decide when this is necessary. Please consider making this toggle-able.
The NPC I was protecting dies in seconds. I can't 'slow down' as I must kill the aggressive NPCs very quickly. Furthermore since I do a lot of older content, I often need to reduce my DPS for various purposes. Banestrike has been a huge headache for me for multiple reasons.
They could make it like all spells where it associates itself with a target when you start casting. If the mob is dead by the time the spell fires, it hits the corpse or fails. If you targetted something else by then, it wouldn't hit the new mob.
I cannot believe you lost hours on a centuries old escort quest. Please tell us more about this quest because thats more interesting than your banestrike request. A quest that takes hours, the quest npc is killable, and a fail requires a server restart to re-request?
I agree. In the sense that--sometimes I just want to work on getting my skill levels up. And I don't want to banestrike. Because it kills stuff faster. Definitely needs to be toggleable.
I agree that this needs to have a toggle switch. Not only do I agree with the original statement that it can cause npcs of low lvl to die, it can also agro mobs you don't want to agro for quests. Also, as an enchanter, I toggle FAST. And don't say I need to slow down as moving between mobs is my JOB. When I'm nuking one mob and mezzing others, it breaks mez on the toggled to mob. Both ideas will work. Either being able to toggle it off and on, or connecting the banestrike to the mob the cast starts with. This is very frustrating, and slowing down as crowd control really isn't an option. Thanks.
Changing Banestrike appears to be a terrible decision and I haven't seen any Pros given, only Cons. And lots of Cons. Please change it back.
I also dislike it being auto. I have dealt with it, but having to do old quests like Hero's Journey and needing to click an item on a low level mob that is less than 10% health and banestrike kills them get a tad frustrating.
Just a small info. Try to use the features EQ gives you. If you have a problem with the Hero Journey stuff, use the MONSTER Feature. LvL down with this feature for the quest. I done it that way and it made it really easy. Its the same with nearly everything else where LvL/ Riposte/banestrike is a problem.
I want to play MY toon when I play, not some generic tool that makes me re-do my hotbars. Please revert Banestrike.
Still wondering what quest the OP is talking about where the npc you are escorting is also attackable, the quest takes hours, and cannot be redone till server reset. Is that for real? Anyone know?
