Personas - Are They Safe To Use?

Discussion in 'The Veterans' Lounge' started by WhatUptime, Dec 15, 2023.

It's not a disconnect. It's an understanding that they are two separate things.

I didn't say the new UI was great, or worked flawlessly, or anything of the sort. It was an example of something that was released and is still being worked on, which is directly counter to what the person I replied to was saying.

They're both still progression unlocks that were tied to each other in design. Faction would be the worst part to do, in my opinion.

At this point, I'm confused on what things are actually being successfully shared between Personas, and what is broken.

Come on now. You made some good points about ongoing development, but with Personas we're not talking about something that wasn't "100% polished." We're talking about something that was released half done, and with serious bugs. The last several expansions haven't been like this, as far as I recall.

I still love the game and I still respect the devs, but I think it's reasonable and appropriate to give the feedback that this is not okay. This isn't about the balance decisions they made for personas. They messed up the planning for this expansion. I hope they can do a postmortem on what processes led them to this point and do better in the future.

Personas and new UI are perfect examples of how not to launch new features.

Both launched without listening to testers with regards to serious bugs.

UI they have now added away to disable it. Personas they have fixed some of the worse bugs, but players are still calling for a way to delete the Personas they created as they have become a pain in the rear end due to changing when logged out in none fast camp zones. Somewhere under their rules, they aren't permitted to be swapped.

Not really because the underlying UI engine seems to be also bugged, which does result in crashes. Disabling the new UI engine did even resulted in more crashes, but I have not tested that in the last few weeks again.

Just curious...did you try the original fix for the new UI...where you take the converted windows and put them in a custom UI folder and use that one...as opposed to just disabling the new UI in the options window?

I haven't had any major bugs yet - just the permanent HF ornament on my bracer I can't remove and the occasional removed aug.

One note, and I guess I should've paid attention to this - it is NOT safe to use a heroic on these characters if you had any intent to re-use it. After making an 85 heroic ranger persona, I managed to snag a 100 heroic token and either have to give up the 85 heroic forever or use the 100 heroic on something else. Bit of a bummer, since the heroics are supposed to (and specifically state being able to) be reused over and over to try different classes.

That’s really odd considering they specifically said it would remember when you switched gear. It’s almost like there’s a whole commission dedicated to legally handling individuals who don’t provide what they’ve promised in their business dealings. https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/

Did you contact CS to request a refund first?

Yep, and I experienced a lot crashes with that. I now try another experiment, and zoning and loading has already become half as slow. Feels like playing in turbo mode. I will test the stability later today.
    1. Disabled the UI (options / eqclient.ini).
    2. Copied the files from the Old_UI folder into my custom folder.

And you get faction for doing the progression so this barely moves the needle in assisting the player. Actually, doing the progression may be more enjoyable way of faction grinding than doing creator missions endlessly.

Understatement of the year. They are starting a CVS receipt of things they release that straight up don't function or have awful bugs associated with them. Waving it off as anything less than an unmitigated disaster is being way too kind for the sheer incompetence of these feature releases. You can criticize the devs, ya know?
  13. Szilent Augur

You can do that while maintaining civility and eschewing hyperbolic vitriol, ya know?

On Live, I found the raids to be considerably faster than the single group missions, so it is almost no help, but I carefully say "almost" because Goblin Dojo is a pain in the butt and not having to do that again is worth mentioning.

On TLP, if you're wanting to get the AAs for multiple personas in-era, the faction grind is brutal, but not having to repeat all the raids is actually a pretty nice benefit.

It's disappointing that those AAs can't just be shared, but it's still better than nothing.

P.S. If anyone is taking suggestions, it would be really nice for a "catch-up" quest to be introduced that lets you shortcut DoN faction grinding when the server is past caring about that expansion. Something like how Alaran language got a shortcut in RoF. Grinding long-grey missions isn't super fun, and having this shortcut would be nice for both people who do and who don't use personas.

That is a good old tradition that started with the TSoL expansion when things became more serious inside the dev team:
Unfinished expansion because of mounts, bad and broken PC models 2.0, yelling CEOs, deadlines.

We should be happy for each new broken feature as that is better than no new feature. ;)

I'd be terrified to use a persona when simply touching a housing plot means everything is gone.

I'd rather have no new features and more new content than less content and half-finished features that aren't really that useful.

Are persona slots per account or per character?
