Persona TLP

    Hi all,

people are curious about what the anniversary TLP will be in 2024. Well, DPG said 2024 will be stellar. Maybe they do two TLPs this time around. It has happened before. Any maybe they flag one as 'experimental'. It has happened before.

What I would like is one of those TLPs going all-in on the new Alternate Persona feature. It's so damn useless right now but I am not ready yet to give up on it because it only needs little fixing.

On one of the new TLP make Persona switchable anywhere you go.
(And don't let rabies stop you from switching...)

Also make unequipped gear that is part of a Persona-saved gear set go into special bags so that gear doesn't mix with your loot (think tradeskill bags). It's a nightmare juggling all that stuff around right now.

I also have preferences on FTE or not, FreeTrade or not, Heirloom or not, Random Loot or not, but I'd take any combination when they can substantially improve the Persona feature. That's the thing I care the most of.

These should be innate features of Personas, not specific to one TLP server.

Yeah this doesn't make sense as a TLP ruleset, if anything it'd just be revisions to the current persona system

I absolutely agree but since I cannot see them doing it they might as well put out a Persona Love TLP and add more stuff to my suggestion :)

I'm going to make a persona of each starting city and just origin around like its PoP in classic.
    GrandOpener and Yinla like this.

Nice thought, quick way to get from Erudin to Freeport!

Valid strategy. Just be mindful of the exact personas you're going to create because currently the classes cannot be deleted/re-created.

Hopefully they'll address this in a more holistic way eventually. (Right now having personas is substantially worse than traditional alts in terms of gear/inventory space.)

But until they do, the best way to handle this is to have a dedicated gear bag. (Or multiple bags, depending on how many personas...) The key is before you switch personas, put the gear bag into bag slot one. After you switch, put the gear bag out of the way again.

And since they require you to be in a city anyway, you might as well just store that gear bag in the bank while you're out adventuring. :p

I don't know what the restriction on swapping personas should be, but it seems like there has to be something to stop everyone from switching to a rogue to sos everywhere and then swap back. At that point it's no different than just giving every class sos locked behind a micro transaction

If anybody can do it, it's in balance in terms of player power.

I don't think it's overpowered when you can sneak past see-invis mob every once in a while. Any rogue can do it. If you happen to not play a rogue, you cannot do it. If you happen to have invested much time into a rogue persona, you should be able to switch to it and do it.

    In terms of game balance:
The dungeon layout is never balanced around a few see-invis mobs. They are just there to annoy you, to slow you down on your way where you actually want to go.

Also the game was never designed to be played in a way that a single person is running 6 characters at once. That single person is overpowered because of what they can do. They can double invis, they can target high value group content on their own, they can rake in Krono. And that's fine regardless of the initial game design perspective. I am not arguing against boxing.
I am advocating pushing personas. I think what it really needs is proper inventory management and less restrictive switching.

DPG, please do not change the personas to change everywhere. We already have enough whiners :"but I need that item for my alt."
  12. Yinla Ye Ol' Dragon

I have no objection to leaving changing personas as it is now, but they need to give us a quick way to get back to our group after doing so.

I think you should be able to swap personas anywhere as long as you're not in combat and there should be ~10-15 min timer between persona swaps. The requirement to travel to a City/Nexus makes personas far too inconvenient, may as well just have an alt.

Make the change, there are already whiners going on about needing something for their alt. As I've said numerous times before, apply the same cool down timer and OOC requirement as swapping a merc. Or, if you're going to be a stickler on this, change the mercs so you can only swap them in city zones.
