Overseer questions

Discussion in 'The Newbie Zone' started by Xanbar, Jan 20, 2024.

    • I have one account and two characters. Can both characters run a 24-hour overseer mission simultaneously?
    • I think I read in a guide that overseers can be level 1 to level 5. Looking for recommendations on how to increase overseer level.

Overseer is actually at the server level, not on the character itself. All your characters on that server will share the same Overseer. As long as your characters are over 85, they'll all see the same exact Overseer game when they bring up Overseer. You can start Overseer on one character and claim the rewards on another (provided both are over 85).

If you look at the Stats tab of the Overseer window, you'll see the different categories of quests and their current levels. As you do a quest in a category, you'll get experience in that category. Eventually the category levels up and you get higher level quests in that category with greater rewards. Don't worry too much about how to level these quests. They'll just advance as you do them. The quests come in 6, 12, and 24 hour lengths. Pick the length that works with your schedule best so you can claim the rewards and start new quests as frequently as possible. (e.g. If it's 9 pm, pick a 12 hour quest so you can rotate quests at 9 am rather than a 6 hour quest that will be complete at 3 am.)

I generally find it easiest to stick with 12 hour quests since there enough of them that I can have all active quests at 12 hours. With 6 and 24 hour quests, there are just a few and I end up having a mix of all length quests and I can't rotate all the quests at once.

Your agents don't level up on their own. They are at fixed levels (Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Elite). It's up to you to convert agents at one level to the higher level. Three Common agents can convert into an Uncommon, 3 Uncommons into a Rare, and 3 Rares into an Elite. As you get higher level quests, you'll need higher level agents to start the quest. You'll need to decide when to convert. Don't convert too many agents too early or else you won't have enough agents to do the quests. Always do the Recruit missions to get as many agents as possible. When I'm starting Overseering and having to decide who to convert, I look at each job category and try to make sure the number of agents I have in each job are about equal. For instance:

I'd go through each job category and see how many agents I have in each job. If one job has a lot more agents than the other jobs, I'll pick agents in that job to be converted. So then I'd end up with about the same number of agents in each job. You only really have to worry about agent conversion early in Overseer. Later on you'll have so many agents that you'll have dups for all of them and can convert pretty much any random 3. (In the early levels, convert all dups to higher levels. However, some agents can be used when they are dups, some can't. I'll avoid diving into it now to avoid adding confusion. But which agents can be dups is something to look into later.).

Thanks Bernel for condensing all of that information into what I think is the most important stuff.

The important thing is just do it every day. You'll figure it out quickly.

    1) Overseer is account and server, not character. You can have 5 missions per account per server. 3 if you are FTP. If you eat a krono, you become silver, and can have 5 as FTP.

    2) Yes on the levels, but that doesn't matter too much beyond one important fact.

In the beginning, there will be many quests you can not do because you lack required agents.

Higher level and rarity quests require different agents. You will need to acquire more agents to do more quests and higher level agents to do higher level quest. When you start, do recruitment anytime you can. Conversions is how you get higher level agents. Do conversions when you can, but don't convert any agents you don't have doubles of. Eventually you'll have so many you wont want more.

One last thing, when there is an event overseer, it is the 1st one on the list. I often try to do higher rarity overseer quests or quests based on need, but when there is an event, I try to do those, because there are event specific agents.

To get to the best rewards the quickest, I would recommend primarily doing the 3 quests that make up a category rather than doing random quests from all the categories. You can see the 9 types of quests in the stats tab. Those 9 types fit into 3 categories. The first three (Plunder, Stealth, Military) are the Fighter, the next three (Crafting, Harvesting, Research) are the Worker, and the last three (Diplomacy, Trade, Exploration) are the Traveler. The main reason for focusing on one set of quests would be to get quests at the highest level as soon as possible. If you always do the same kinds of quests, those quest lines will advance quickly and you'll get to the higher level quests sooner. The other reason is that there are Overseer achievements for leveling each category. The achievement rewards are more agents, which helps you level up even faster. You can see these in the Overseer->Faydwer Quests of the Achievements window

All quests have exp and coin as a reward, but they also have other kinds of rewards like tradeskill items, ornaments, collectables, etc. The reward types are the same for the quests in a category. Fighter have merc exp and ornaments, Worker have tradeskill items, and Traveler have collectables. So if you were doing Overseer for the tradeskill items, focus on the Worker quests.

I'm usually doing Overseer for exp. I focus on leveling up the Diplomacy, Trade and Exploration quests at first. These are all 12-hour quests, which works best for me. I keep an eye on their progress bars so that they all level up together and I can get the achievement awards as early as possible.

Of course, focusing on just 3 quests means that the other quests fall behind. The other quests level up a bit from times when I don't have enough of the Traveler quests to fill up the queue and I have to pick some of the other quests. But how I mainly level them up is by retiring Elite agents. After you've done Overseer for a while, you'll start to have dup Elite agents. The rewards for retiring Elites are either Rare agents or exp in one of the quest lines. Early on I'll get Rare agents, but once I have all my Rares, then I'll use the reward for exp in one of the quest lines.

Overseer can seem like a lot of busy work at first, but it's really beneficial when you have the quest lines maxed out. You can eventually get 5-10% exp a day, a bunch of tradeskill items, collectables, etc.. It comes in very handy when you need those kinds of boosts.

    1. No. You have one overseer game/account per EQ account. That means that you can have a maximum of 5 concurrent Overseer quests on your EQ account at any time. However, that also means that if you're playing your main 99% of the time, you can set up quests on your main, log over to your alt, and claim the experience rewards there. OR claim your Collections things and send them over via a shared bank.
    2. Play the game to level. That means completing quests and collecting/merging weaker characters into stronger characters.

As of last year, this no longer works. They have "de-bugged" it so you can no longer obtain Silver with the Krono trick. Unless you have a pre 2014 account.

Did the accounts that obtain silver from this get demoted?

None of mine have yet and I have not heard that anyone else lost theirs. They still show the chat token in account so I would think they cannot take that out without altering the accounts in other ways.

I've been keeping 2 of every common and converting when I have 3 (though only keep 1 green/blue).
Are the space commons doing much?
