The Test Update 1-08-2019 contains the following:
This means I need to change my EverQuest Inventory Report program.

From what I guess from that patch note and the current file names (example: Fanra_bertox.ini), my inventory file will be called Fanra_Bertox-Inventory.txt (note the case of each letter).

However, there are a bunch of servers. Here is my best guess as to what will replace "Bertox" for each server (Full name: Name used in file name):
    • Agnarr: Angarr
    • Antonius Bayle (Kane Bayle): Antoni
    • Bertoxxulous (Bertoxxulous – Saryrn): Bertox
    • Beta: Beta
    • Brekt: Brekt
    • Bristlebane (Bristlebane - The Tribunal): Bristl
    • Cazic Thule (Cazic Thule - Fennin Ro): Cazic
    • Coirnav: Coirna
    • Drinal (Drinal - Maelin Starpyre): Drinal
    • Erollisi Marr (Erollisi Marr - The Nameless): Erolli
    • Fippy Darkpaw (Vulak-Aerr) : Fippy
    • Firiona Vie: Firion
    • Lockjaw: Lockja
    • Luclin (Luclin – Stromm): Luclin
    • Phinigel: Phinig
    • Povar (Povar – Quellious): Povar
    • Ragefire: Ragefi
    • Test: Test
    • The Rathe (The Rathe – Prexus): Rathe
    • Trakanon: Trakan
    • Tunare (Tunare - The Seventh Hammer): Tunare
    • Vox: Vox
    • Xegony (Xegony - Druzzil Ro): Xegony
    • Zek: Zek
If I could get some confirmation on this I would appreciate it.
    Thank you.

The limit isn't 6 chars, at least not with log files. eqlog_Smokebane_bristle.txt for example. So inventory files should be the same. It just doesn't use multiple words for logs. Cazic Thule for example... it's just cazic.

Which makes it harder for me because I don't have a character on every server and really don't feel like creating them and then checking this.

If there was a list somewhere...

Assuming I get an answer to this, I'll update my http://everquest.fanra.info/wiki/Game_servers article to contain this information for the future.

Like Smokezz said, it's not limited to six letters :)

Thank you for your reply. I see now that it contains what I need.

You posted the short names in all lower case, I'm assuming based on the patch notes that the names will be capitalized for the inventory files.

It doesn't matter though, Windows isn't case sensitive. :)

I guess that Visual Basic.Net file names aren't, now that I've looked at it since you mentioned it. In general, however, I am a very detail orientated person and with programming you learn quickly that you must be exact or your program will not work correctly (or run at all).

Now that I understand heh. I like things to look correct no matter what as well.

I'm a programmer, capitalization matters, which is why I did it all in lowercase ;)
