Our Next TLP - Ruleset Idea - All Gear Matters

New Ruleset - All Gear Matters Server
    Free Trade - Like Teek/Mischief
Remove Level Requirement on All Procs in Game. Every Weapon procs, Level 1.
No Level requirement - On Any Gear, Ever. (That's right even up to level 120) level 1s in any gear the game drops .
Bring Back Low Level Focuses- Active Focuses from Start.

LETS HAVE SOME FUN AGAIN! Lets see some BIG DAMAGE NUMBERS! FOR EVERYONE! Not just Casters, Not Just Melee!! This Server has it ALL! For EVERYONE!

Does this Trivialize Current Content - No, Because As each expansion opens ,the Top level gear of each expansion gatekeeps the difficulty of that raid content. (You still need Vex Thal/Planar Gear to Break into Elemental Planes, Etc. etc.)
This basically just empowers the Catching up, or lower level population, to have an absolutely awesome time, with lvl 1 Blood Point procs and Ykesha at Lvl 1, have fun! Let all items have use for all, at all times!!

Remember REAL REAL CLASSIC? When Kunark First launched the Blood Point (Dagger weapon out of Charasis) would proc Siphon at Lvl one, It was absolutely amazing ( Low proc rate) but to see a lvl 5 proc a 90 dmg lifetap, was AMAZING. A TLP should reflect that.

Does this Trivialize Older Content? yes- but all older content is already Trivial to any raiding geared player. This just allows it so Lower levels can have way more fun and reason to experience the content, rather then just Power Level to Raiding levels.

Hypothetical - A group of friends in a Raiding guild, Have excess time and gear as there guild is auto farming an expansion before a new one opens. What do they do, stop playing EQ.... OR gear a low level team with fun raid gear and play together some more!

Pro of ruleset : BOOSTED ECONOMY - For Daybreak!
This also adds Value, To every item in the Raiding Game. Meaning More people desiring more items, more people needing to purchase Krono From daybreak to purchase high end raid items at lower levels, but actually have a reason to!

Think about how DEAD every single zone is once they are 2-3 expansions behind current content. Does it matter that we allow a lower lvl, that isn't participating in the game where 90% of players are (Current content Raiding/Top tier zones), to wear gear that absolutely breaks that era of the game? no, because its already been beaten. It will be a TON OF FUN!

Hypothetical : Its Planes of Power, Every Zone in Velious is Empty - Do we care that a lvl 35 Monk in Full Plane of Time gear, with everything Procing and working, Goes and decimates a empty zone 10 levels higher them himself? No, we don't. Does that Individual get an immense sense of joy? YES!

Groups of Lower levels with USABLE awesome Gear, So much Fun!!! The Teek and Mischief random loot has been so much fun, But honestly, a ton of that gear has gone to waste as No focus effects, High lvl requirements on low level weapon procs, Tower Gear trivializing most raid gear. It made the market for gear and the use of much of it, very limited. Not fun at all.

(Side Note Tangent : Remember that Viral video 20 years ago of a lvl 52 Monk soloing Nagafen In era with like 3 backpacks full of Shaman made potions. Well a server like this could make all sorts of fun moments with LOW LEVEL Players in High lvl raid gear going back and seeing what they can do with less) Lets remember that CURRENT content will always be a challenge!

Side Note : Rogues - The Lowest Pop class on Every TLP since TLPs existed, imagine now with this ruleset, how fun a rogue can be, all those procs, actual survivability with higher lvl gear. FUN ROGUES? WHAT? yes!!!!!!

Hypothetical, The server is flowing, things are good, first few expansions massive population. We hit Gates of Discord , usually a lull in population. but now, everyone is like, hey let me start a lower level and throw a ton of excess old raid gear on it, That can be fun!

We have all beaten this game 100 times, Making things difficult does not attract the current EQ Player base, Making things Nostalgic, and giving people the opportunity to actually use that nostalgic power, AT ALL TIMES. is what would sell, big time. Starting a Level one Warrior in Full Suit of Raid armor and high damage proc weapons that work at low level? Now we are talking some Nostalgia + Super Powers!

When Kunark was brand new, Know what made the Tranquil Staff an iconic item that was fun to use? it proced at low level. To see a lvl 40 monk walk into Sol B and just Spin stuff everything left and right was epic, and awesome. This Server will bring those moments back. We need those moments back!

Lets Talk about Teek and Tormax and Gear -
The Tower Event absolutely Cooked the entire Value of classic loot, Making nearly all of it worthless and low cost, which is generally good for the base player. Though lets be real, Remember that one TLP that had SPELL FOCUSES on EVERYTHING, and how absolutely powerful DoTs were in that one. That was memorable. That's what TLPs should be, not about the balance and stuff that we have all experienced a million times, not for fine tuning to more balance, but for absolute joy and fun.
This Ruleset will make everything fun, all the time.

What do people play classic for? Fun items, Feel Powerful! What Moves KRONO faster then ANYTHING? Fun and Powerful Items! (What does Daybreak want most? MOVEMENT OF KRONO) - So ~ Make Powerful Items Usable Always!

What do you think a player is going to go into the Daybreak store, Purchase a Krono, Then Trade that Krono for : A - a Non-Procing , Level Required, Unusable Item Or B. a Level one Procing, No level required, Usable Fun item, Right there, Right now.
    We all know the answer!

This Server Ruleset will be a Win Win for everyone - Daybreak will have record movement on the Store in Kronos. Players will have Record levels of Joy and Amazement as there classes are fully unlocked with powerful items, Powerful weapon procs, Powerful Spell Focuses, And general awesomeness.

Everquest TLP - Where All Gear Matters - Thank You .

Isn't this just Vaniki but with focus effects and level 1 procs but without the incentive to do higher level raids at a lower level? Doesn't really change the game at all once you are actually at level cap and the server is past Luclin, so I guess at least it is slightly better than a vanilla Phinigel clone?

Phinigel was an amazing server and I'll not allow you to say otherwise, Bobby!

This is super duper easy mode for those who are already bored with super easy mode.
Next up: super duper pooper scooper easy mode.

The only 5 things I would like to see is

    1. No requirement level on gear, give players behind the curve a boost to catch up.
    2. No keys or flags, only delays players getting into content which is only in era for 2 - 3 months.
    3. DZs for all different instances of zones for the life of the server, Sleepers Tomb, Paw, Cazic, Mischief, etc
    4. Limited timed items drop for the life of the server. DE mask, Circlet of Darkness, etc
    5. Shorter time before LDoN unlocks, but longer in LDoN, making PoP the same amount of time before the next level increase.

    Just a couple of notes.

[Boosted economy] I could get that by playing live. ~15,000pp/month reward for paid account.
[What do people play classic for?] Most of the 'new' game that has been added doesn't really add anything I'm interested in. Seems to me just spell upgrades to the next level burn, MOBs with more hps. kind of like someone asking why people that like chess just fine don't play 3d chess.

Seems to me now and forever, nobody likes the early levels. Some people, mostly in the forums, like the old D&D system of character advancement. Outside of us, nobody seems to want to savor the journey. There's still a couple of character types I haven't pumped up. Never got a Berserker to server level in current expansions. I'm not sure I want to!

A problem is, there are two masters that have to be served. The ones that want instant gratification and the ones that like the character advancement you get in an CRPG. They are incompatible groups. Make it too easy and people might as well play live.

I like to savor the journey but if I do that I quickly get outleveled by the bulk of the server and have to savor alone, i'm not sure there's a good solution

I can/have suggested solutions in the past. They have zero chance of being implemented of course but sometimes I just like to speculate.

IMO a better business model would be servers by level if you want grouping to be a thing. By that I mean instead of having free play on live server they would be level limited. That is, free play up to level 50 on server 'A and you could stay there forever. That would leave a herd of players that you could get buffed by, leveled, group with from say level 33. Leave the veteran perks in i.e. Lesson of the Devoted. There would be a reason to participate in the Bazaar since there would be a constant stream of people passing through.

People paying for veteran perks could graduate to the next level of server 'B. And so on up the line. This would still allow for a lot of mischief that goes on now like RMT-Krono's.

The server tree from there up should always allow for the lowest level character on the server to be able to group with the highest i.e. 2nd tier server would be levels 50-75, 3rd tier 75-105.

Like I said, less than zero chance of this happening. There would probably be problems with one being too many servers in the middle. Probably end up with a mushroom shaped player distribution.
Eventually everyone that stuck it out would end up at the top level live servers. The number of live servers would be grown or shrunk to have a healthy population.

It's not my dime so I don't have a say and that is right. If it is a failure, I'm not the guy looking for a job and going to a food bank. ;)

There's really no draw to this idea. People play a server to play through the server, however long they plan to be on it; no one is going back to 'experience' it on alts. The only reason the recommended only gear has any play on Vaniki (which is still quite a dead server) is for the level based rewards.

In short, since the rest of your feature doesn't really matter, you've done nothing more than just create another Mischief clone. /shrug

Wouldn't this just make any level appropriate gear worthless after a couple expansions? Top end players would just sell off their current gear as it gets replaced and any items after a couple of expansions would just lose its value rather quickly as it gets replaced by current or last expansion gear.

Would seem like a great way for the RMT crowd to farm current/last expansion gear and sell it to everyone without a need to worry about them leveling up to use the gear.

Free trade is already very enabling for letting lower folks catch up. There's a 1hs out there that makes you pretty invincible until level 40.

I'd add no level cap for spells, and no cap to your casting skills. Watch a level 30 try to cast Strike of Solusek. Pure hilarity if it actually casts.

I like it. Especially for the 80+ game where access to endgame gear and abilities would really kick in to help the catchup/solo types.

But then if it were up to me, I'd get rid of req level on gear entirely. Not just for one server.
  12. Tuco Augur

    My twist:
    • 3x respawn rate on all mobs up through velious and maybe further
    • When expansions come out, the first half of that expansion window doesn't include the new levels or AAs.
    • All item recs / reqs dropped by ten.

While we're at it, remove classes. Everyone starts the same. Get to pick your race and starting point. Everyone gets skill points to spend. Spend them at any class trainer you want. If you spend points at a Shaman trainer you now unlock the ability to learn shaman spells up to lvl 10 etc. The more points you put into a class the more spells/abilites you will be able to learn. Still time to tweak it before 2025 servers launch. You're welcome.

No. Vaniki is a level locked progression server.
