    Guten Tag Norrath,

So it's a patch on a Federal Holiday.
We must figure out something to do for 6 hours.

I think I am going to uhhhh.. hmmm ‍♂️
    Hmm.. chores?

I'll be working as my company does not recognize today as a holiday.

Working. But working from home with a cat on my lap, so it could be worse.

Im going to grind out caulk between pool coping and concrete deck, then replace with Sika self leveling sealant. Before it reaches 93 degrees, hopefully.

Strange they chose a federal holiday to do a 6hr patch on though considering a lot of people do get it off work and have more time to play.

What federal holiday is it? I'm retired so my tasks for the day are already done. The Three S's, a run to HEB, a stop at a local meat market, and then grab a couple of tacos before I head back to where I parked my RV for the next month. I knew it was patch day though.

Hmm the fact that Texas has been celebrating it since 1980 as a state holiday and you mentioned HEB should have clicked for me but I have not had my coffee yet. Sorry for assuming you didn't know what it was and linking the Wiki.

Looking forward to the abundant prickly pear crop coming next month into August, and of course the peaches in Fredericksburg. And though some of my friends were complaining about the water levels in the Frio a couple weeks ago, after this storm passes through, at least for a short while, the river should be prime for tubing again.

I don't know how you Texans manage the summers. We tried it. 100+ degrees for 110 days in a row... We packed up and moved to Colorado. I'll take snow over scorching any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

LOL Well I grew up with no AC, exile to the outside as soon as we finished breakfast, playing and later working out in it all day, and drinking from a water hose. It wasn't until I was 14 and my mother remarried and bought a house with central air, that I experience AC outside of the classroom at the new school. Now that I'm retired, and have MS, my ability to tolerate the weather to either extreme is diminished. But I relocated back to Texas last year, with the full intent of continuing my chase of 70*, but the VA decided that they wanted me to stay put and spread out all my appointments until the first week of October. I'll be going to GenCon this year, but heading up to NY and Maine after that, and just fly back for my appointment. My buddy in Maine landed a moose permit for this season, and he wants me to be there to help him should he shoot one, and send me back to Texas with my freezer filled. but i have to be back here for Election Day, and deer season down here starts that week too, and I finally have a place to hunt.

Eww, sorry about having to deal with the VA. I got "lucky". 100% P&T, but I guess that is what one gets for not making it through 20 with all the body parts they started it with. But I digress. They probably don't want us going this far off topic.

I will probably play some EQ2 today, their Origins server launches at Noon PST.

Went to this zone with a big shinny bright thing in the sky, walked among lots of trees, bushes and flowers, found a river to follow for a bit, before I decided to retrace my steps.

We could use some Texas heat in Northern Europe. Still wearing my winter hat and coat at the start of this week.

My memory of Texas is taking very strict turns to be the unlucky sob who had open the car door, duck his head in and start the ignition, and slam the door shut again. Then we'd wait in the shade for 10 minutes for the car's a/c to do its job.
