Oakwynd Longevity

    I understand that as of right now, Oakwynd is a little divisive. But, once it gets to the later expansions, (115+) Would the bonuses such as all the exp boosts and loot make it a desirable server for high lvls. I know the grind gets INSANE in that range and was curious what others think

    I think all the stacking bonuses on Oakwynd would make it an extremely attractive server for many players looking for a more casual ruleset once it starts reaching mid/late era expansions.

    Same type bonuses do not stack (i.e. DoN faction modifier will replace RoK faction modifier).

    For me it's clear I will start playing on this server once Luclin launches.
    I like the Beastlord class and that 25% extra AA XP will help right from the start (lv 51+).
    And it only gets better from there with the bonuses every couple months.

    I already played a few weeks there to experience FTE and I am fine with it so that won't turn me off once Luclin launches. I stopped playing after a few weeks because obviously I don't enjoy the first three eras that much. (Also the CoS camping monopoly is out of control but that's a different story.)

    No other TLP has been even remotely close to how humming Mischief was past PoP. I played till DoN and population was huge. The one which is a distant second was Phinegel.

    Oakwynd is more like the rest of the TLPs, and I have played on a few from the first one Combine.

    With all the different bonuses Oakwynd gets when each expansion unlocks it also has the possibility of keeping players around for longer.

    The population already is nowhere near where Mischief was in era. Maybe Mischief is the wrong yardstick though, but I don't see Oakwynd being huge down the line.

    While that is true, that doesn't mean that it is going to have a major drop at PoP (or any expansion) and it could continue to progress along and possibly gain players as more bonuses get added.

    It is a very unique server and I think it is too early to say how it will do over time.

    In the true longterm the bonuses go away when it gets merged into another server. Might be a good place to farm tradeskill items in the medium term and then sell them or use them on your live server.

    That happening is still a long ways off when it either hits live or the population gets low enough that darkpaw things it can no longer survive. Any idea of tradeskill farming now is a bit silly as what you farm may be worthless when the merge time comes.

    Oakwynd has a pretty casual player base, so I think that it will do alright past PoP and beyond because the unique ruleset helps minimize burnout.

    Kunark is already dishing out extra gear.
    Velious will make the faction swings quicker.
    Luclin will help the casuals reach max AA's before PoP launches even though it's pretty easy to reach max AA's already.
    PoP won't really do much with the coin increase except make tradeskills a little kinder to max out.

    Oakwynd is an enjoyable server, but it wasn't my preference. I can see a lot of players casually sticking to it.

    I can't help but wonder what Daybreak has in store for us with the 25th anniversary TLP. It's going to be good. Realllllllllllllllllllllll good.

    Depends on how casual, they may end up having the same issues live has now, with players not logging in after a few weeks to exp as they are done with content.

    It may last longer as players play alts, but alts can cause burnout doing the same thing over, and over, and over, and over....

    Will be interesting to see if they carry on the bonus's past what they list now.

    I mean its going to be 5+ years before Oakwynd makes it to the end of the list, in the mean time we may see 5 more EQ expansions... will they keep on adding new bonus's each expansion past the end of the list?

    Oakwynd would have been nice if all of those perks were in at launch. Since they weren't, it's another dud.

    It's all a moot point... it will just be merged into VOX probably well before it ever reaches 115 (when the population drops to a suitable level). Even if it does reach 115+ it will just be merged shortly after it catches up with live and the special rulesets will be gone.

    Every TLP is fated to be merged into a live server once it catches up to the live expansion that is an expected part of progression. As far as I can remember most get merged in when it hits live and only a couple have been merged in before due to population issues.
