    Blizzard said the very same thing about the codebase for World of Warcraft vanilla and now we have WoW Classic. Nothing is impossible. Never say never...

    They could always recreate it. It's just a matter of resources. They won't, though. There is no reason for them to do so. What they have with the TLP's works. It's making them a lot of money. There's no reason to make a seismic shift like splitting the code base. Especially when P99 already exists to satisfy the "we want it to be exactly how it was back then" crowd, and that's available for free.

    The real kicker is I built my server back in 2010 I mean, what I would love to try is one on a Linux Distro that would be pretty freaking sweet!

    Actually I think they did, they even scoured ebay etc until they found one of their old server blades that they had sold off at some point in the past - they used it for their initial internal testing build prior to announcing they were actually going ahead with the project.
