Either it works different for me, or you are wrong.

The OP was looking for the SOLD message. Those are reported to the character log, not the bazaar log. I just verified it myself, found 5 items I sold recently, listed in the char log. Noted the dates. Searched the bazaar log, went through to cover those dates, and no SOLD messages appear. Then searched my BZR log for the string "sold", and found nothing. This log is continuous since 2014.

There is one possibility for the "works different for me": I NEVER sell online. I enter trader mode, and then immediately hit OFFLINE. Perhaps if you do sell in online mode, the SELL messages would go to the BZR log.

But I really think you're misunderstanding the issue, since your response just says "BZR log was created". There's no dispute there. It's just that that's not where the SOLD messages go.

EDIT: replied before reading the further posts. So it does appear that if you sell in online mode, the messages go to the bazaar log. What I do know is that when I next login my trader after having been in offline trader mode, the first messages which appear in my chat boxes (and my character log) are messages about what sold while I was offline. That's where I see all my sold messages.

Where do I sign up for this? :p
  3. Tatanka Joe Schmo

As soon as he posts his char name and server, you can send him the plat.

No need to sign up ;)

There are really no plat sinks in the game. Closest is armor, but if you just play the game you earn way more plat than anything actually costs.
  5. Cicelee Augur

I agree. Yet OP stated s/he is poor. Like you, I don't understand how players can be poor in today's EQ. But while you and I and many others do not view armor as a plat sink, apparently it is for those that cannot get the plat to buy the stuff you put in the containers to make the armor. To them, it is.
  6. Tarvas Redwall of Coirnav, now Drinal

Steam Factory is pretty good. I do about 90k an hour there, it is just boring as hell.

I am talking about group T1 and T2 armor, not tradeskill or raid stuff.

I loot and sell everything unless it is a tradeskill item, which get banked and used. Normal sessions are not really generating all that much plat.

It is not hard to understand. I came from Coirnav where there was no economy to play the bazaar game with and normal gameplay does not generate a lot plat. The accelerated schedule didn't help things. Regardless, I'll scrap up the plat I need. There use to be a option prior to the EoK-RoS fiasco use either the preceding tier's armor or a vendor bought regent if you felt like skipping it. It would help some of us who are not interested in buying kronos, crates, or playing the bazaar game.
  7. Tatanka Joe Schmo

Pretty simple, really. If you don't hunt names regularly, you don't often get anything worth selling. If you use mercs, they cost just over 1kpp per hour. And recent expacs don't have the normal vendor trash dropping, so that income stream is gone (I'm looking at you, diamonds and blue diamonds!).

Even having said that, it's still hard to not generate enough for the basics in EQ. But yeah, you will be fairly poor after having spent the plat on said basics.
  8. Fenthen Well, that's that...

The plat sinks for armor ores (30-50k?) and cost for new type 3s are overly pointless. They don't hurt the rich player, and they aggressively hinder the poor player.
  9. Cadira Augur

This is misleading and ultimately untrue due to the fact that they deliberately increased raw plat that mobs drop to circumvent the need for diamonds dropping in those expansions. Still a decent plat stream from just mass murdering!

  10. Tatanka Joe Schmo

People keep saying that, but it's still far less total plat than the old expacs where diamonds and BDs dropped. Those mobs also dropped plat, just not as much, but the vendor trash mats more than made up the difference. I track this in my play sessions, it's definitely less in the new expacs I've played in (haven't played in the two newest ones yet).
  11. Smokezz The Bane Crew

There are many other ways to gather up some plat than killing stuff in the current expansion. If you're not willing to do that, then not sure what to say.

Nobody's asking you to say anything. A statement was made that they couldn't see how anyone could be plat poor in the current state of EQ. I explained how it's totally possible. The latest exchange was just a quibble over one part of that. No need for your interjection of "many other ways". Yes, there are lots of things you CAN do, Captain Obvious. Those likely won't be things done by people who have limited play time, and just basically do some progression, do some quests, do a bit of grinding, etc
  13. Cadira Augur

I'd be interested in the data to support this, might push them to up the plat that current mobs drop if you can substantiate it!

Edit... just for far more data:

    ehunter@Eric-Downstairs:/mnt/c/Users/Public/Daybreak Game Company/Installed Games/EverQuest/Logs$ grep "You receive" eqlog_Smokebane_bristle.txt | grep platinum | cut -f8 -d" " | wc -l

    ehunter@Eric-Downstairs:/mnt/c/Users/Public/Daybreak Game Company/Installed Games/EverQuest/Logs$ grep "You receive" eqlog_Smokebane_bristle.txt | grep platinum | cut -f8 -d" " | awk '{total = total + $1}END{print total}'
    410814

4603 mobs dropped 410814PP. That's an average of 89.24PP each. I only included mobs that dropped plat since the odd one only drops silver.

37 mobs, 3764PP. That doesn't seem far off from the Diamond/BD rate since they most definitely didn't drop every mob and the plat was far less when they were drops.

Actually what your list shows me is that they implemented the mob cash poorly. 6 mobs with under 2 plat (the 5 silver mobs are just insulting) out of 37 for a roughly 1/6 chance for "nothing". Given how the RNG works, I could easily see a bad run where you might see up to 1/3 with basically nothing over a play session.

[side note: I've found in very limited testing that zone and even mobs matter for how much money I've gotten with the new system. I haven't done enough Lesson burns for any concrete conclusions, but several repeats in certain areas always bring more cash than others ... with similar mob counts. Not even talking about the difference in tradeskill materials or collects ... just cash]

The real issue isn't the cash drops ... it's the inflation for spells, bought armor/gear combine pieces, type 3 augs, etc. Your 37 minutes of fighting didn't come close to paying for one spell. It's like EQ players are on social security and there hasn't been a COLA adjustment for inflation in 10 years.

Cash is a barrier to entry in the game, especially once you've crested 100. As someone who tracks the bazaar over multiple servers, there are definitely servers that are dead when it comes to the bazaar (or barter) and your options are limited. I'm not really sure why that is hard to understand. Some of you are like Cher from Clueless (probably minus the body) ...

37 mobs fighting shouldn't. I edited the post and showed a far longer run which is what real data should be.... not 37 mobs. 4603 mobs yields an average of 89pp per mob.

Just out of curiosity, how much playtime did it take you to kill all that, where were you killing, and what was standard group composition?

All over NOS with a touch of ToL/CoV and ToV. I'm leveling up a new Druid the last few weeks. My crew is all melee, I tend to just pull a bunch of mobs burn them down and wait for burns while I do other things on my machine. (Reddit, training, whatever). This isn't my regular computer so logs aren't rotated. Log started March 30.

    Nice, always love data :)

I took a look at my latest log, 1526 coinage looting events. As I put in a previous post, I haven't been in the latest expacs, but most of this log is from ToV (I think that's the first expac to stop vendor trash and diamonds in the loot table). Since there's other expacs in the log (TBL, EoK, don't think any others), finding an average isn't as useful, because I can't determine which events are from which expac. What I did see was that the max coinage drop I saw was 76 plat, and there were only 5 above 70pp. 54 events in the 60-69pp range. So, the average would be much lower than what Smokezz saw. Conclusion: They increased it quite a bit in newer expacs (ToL, NoS). If so, that's a good thing, and would make the loss of the vendor trash much less of a big deal.

I came back to EQ from a couple year break after ToV went live, so I don't know if there was a lot of complaints then about the loss of vendor trash at the time. If there was, it seems they did respond and up the drops accordingly.
