No One Wants To Play On Live Servers

20+ players made it to live, out of how many that started on the tlp? Sounds like they are the exception that proves the rule.

AB means one server. People went to various different servers, I'll let you do the math, unless you just want to continue to misquote to serve your own agenda.

I actually prefer the live servers to classic. I started playing EQ for the first time last week and also gave Project 1999 Green a shot. I'm an introvert, so all the socializing on P99 is exhausting for me. People are helpful, because the game is unforgiving, but I kind of enjoy the solo grind and figuring my way around things. I'm currently playing on FV and no one has spoken to me once, because everyone is boxing and on their discord channels which I don't visit. I'm moloing on a Necromancer and having a good time. I hate to say it, but I lowkey agree with guys like Renfail. Older MMORPGs had their charm, but I think the negatives are now really outshining the positives, whereas the negatives in modern MMOs aren't as big to keep me from enjoying them.

Don't get me wrong. I might be new to EQ, but I've been playing MMORPGs for 20 years and have been through the highs and lows of dozens of them. The stuff that people really want is mostly just poor game design and mechanics. Because their favorite MMO had it, they want it just for that reason. It's kind of strange to me, really. I do not miss the corpse runs on Runescape back before gravestones existed when you had less than 2 or 3 minutes to run back to your loot or lose it forever. I'm sure many other MMO players feel this way, but nostalgia is kicking in hard. Hell, I even used to be in awe looking through my Encarta 98 Encyclopedia CD years before Wikipedia existed. You can never really go back to how things were. We're no longer naive about the world of MMOs when it was ALL weird and mysterious. Those days had their time, but I prefer that they stayed in my memories.

I can't remember the last time I met a live raider who had never done a TLP. And I know a lot live raiders. Some try it once, some do it most years. The OP and lots of others seem to be generalizing their own experiences in ways that don't make sense.

If you only want to play Classic - PoP? Velious? Whatever, that's fine. Daybreak helpfully provides you at least one new tlp each year. But I don't see how it harms you to allow the servers to finish up their run to live for those who want the full run through.

Another thing to think about: there are plenty of long time live players who had to miss middle expansions for school, military service, the birth of a child, etc. Others just haven't done it in a really long time and want to revisit. With the extremely thin content of recent live expansions, revisiting past eras gives live players something to do the rest of the year.

TLDR: Just play the game you want to play and let others do the same.

yeeeeeeeeeeeesh. hiding behind a wall to heal the tank in classic-luclin is a lot of fun. watch out! that fear spell the raid mob casts might wipe the raid! huh?

imagine actually hitting auto attack and going afk instead of using abilities/discs on cooldown, showing that you have a pulse = bad

go play p99 or project quarm if you want to kill Cazic for the 523rd time on your 7th TLP

I've mentioned this on other posts but I believe Daybreak would receive huge benefits if they moved Agnarr to free and add cosmetics and/or other purchases to the server.

Live servers can be fun and I play them today very casually but Agnarr would be a great home to folks who get the urge to play and then come and go. I believe most of the community who play TLP and servers all like to scratch that itch even if its not long term.

If Daybreak could ever come up with a true classic (OG zones, etc.) up to PoP with some seasonal events and microtransactions it would produce a decent amount of revenue and bring some of your community back home.

  7. Rijacki Just a rare RPer on FV and Oakwynd

This is exactly why I tried Oakwynd.

Since when do you raid! :p I thought you gave it up!

Still raiding missy! :) I just gave up on the nerd race.

We did our LS raids on Sunday.

You can always tell me he people that don't play on TLPs. I always wonder why they even come into the TLP forum. I mean if it doesn't interest you or you don't play on it then why come here?

I mean, the last 5-6 expansions the raids have basically been reskinned. The raids get beat the 1st day the expansion/tier comes out. Man those raids are so tough, instead of just hitting auto attack now you have gina telling you to "go left"... That takes some serious pro gamer skillz.
  13. code-zero Augur

Because people create clickbait titles for threads that can be seen by everyone that reads the forums. If you don't understand that then I'm afraid that your opinion on raids is also suspect

Serious question. I am curious how much do they pay you to start arguments in almost every thread? You know to keep the forums active.

LOL, people regularly come back and play on the Live servers.

Also, the main reason why returning people play on the TLP rather than Live is usually because people tell them to go there, not because they want to specifically go there.

That, and returning players get overwhelmed on Live due to the unimaginable bloat.

To be honest, yes... if you buy a lvl 100 boost and you've never played the class before, it can feel like it's all too much... some classes are worse than others in this respect.

However, for years, there's not really been anything new. It's the same AA lines with a few more ranks, it's the same spells with a bit more damage under a different name, it's just the same combat abilities ranked up a bit....

If you've played to mid game previously, you can absolutely start on live without too much problem. Yes you're squishy as hell to begin, but you can always drop back an expansion or two, if you're a solo/box type player, or alternately find a decent guild who will help get your basic gear. One benefit of Live is that often raid gear is just going to alts in the latter half of the year, so new starts can get geared up pretty cheaply.

I was a tlp player for years and came back to live on AB. Best thing i ever did, as now i know there's a future in the time invested in my character i.e. server isn't going to die.

A lot of where returning players come back to depends on how long ago they quit and if they still have conections to the server they played on.

If they have no connections on a server they are better off on a TLP servers where they will find it easier to make friends and join a guild at their level.

If they still have friends/guild on a live server they will be there to help them pick up where they left off and progress through the content they have missed. My guild usuallly suggest they run a new char through the tutorial and then the quests in PoK to learn about the newer stuff that has been added. Then we will them in on things like Overseer which has been added since. Then there are a lot of us who have lower level alts to group with.

I dropped Vaniki middle of last year when I could no longer raid at 1am and there were no Euro guilds being left. I'm hoping for a higher Euro presence on the next TLP.

I would love TLPs if I was able to transfer to Agnarr after I hit POP. As it is, Agnarr is empty until the game game. And I'm not going to spend $50, $60, $70 on Krono in order to buy Fungi Tunics and whatever else to level quickly solo. That's just lonely and boring.

It'd be great if TLPs would have two "jumping off" points. One being POP to Agnarr, and then the merge with a Live server once the TLP hits parity.
