No More Kunark or Velious remakes ever again PLEASE

This statement doesn't even come close holding up, if you have ever played on a TLP. Luclin is much expansion on those servers. Velious is a super draining expansion.

It would be nice to see them add a new continent to the plane of discord.

I'm probably in the minority but I liked the Kunark / Velious remakes and I was mildly disappointed they haven't completed the other half of Kunark.

A 110+ City of Mist or Seb would have been great.

While meant humorously, it makes a good point... new expacs don't have to be based on old expacs. I'd love to see a new expac based on some original EQ zones. For those of us around since then, it would be a nice change, and great nostalgia.

We had a few of those in House of Thule and Seeds of Destruction.

My main problem is with the Velious remake in ToV and CoV is that they used zones which were already remade in RoF and it would have been nice to see some of the other zones redone like Thurg and Icewell Keep instead of Kael and Crystal Caverns again, Wakening Lands instead of Eastern Waste.

Still waiting on a revamp of Mischief!

I love the Velious stuff!

I know some people loved Velious and Kunark. I stated as much in the original post. but SOME of us hate it, and it's our turn to be heard too.

I tried to read this article but my retinas have been burnt out from snow blindness. ToV and now CoV have given me nothing but white and blue to look at =(

I only know those expansions from when they were released. Not TLP. Maybe TLP messed something up?

And some of us still love Velious but ... enough of this !!!

ahh I never loved Kunark OR Velious honestly.. loathed Kunark from the get go.. and eok/ROS burned me out for good.. never EVER wanna go there again.. EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I would prefer no remakes of anything. I would prefer expanding onto old content if they need to reuse assets to limit time/cost (i.e. new zones off of the myriad dead ends throughout Norrath, Luclin, incomplete portals/rings/spires et. al). I would play any content that is released, however, so if the powers-that-be deem rehashing zones for the umpteenth time is the only alternative to eschewing new content, so be it.

I liked certain Velious zones, and I was never a real big fan of Kunark.

That said, I LOVE the idea of not remaking content, but expanding upon old content. Everything is static. No matter how many days pass in EQ, nothing changes. Mobs get killed and respawn. People get loot, level up, and move on. But nothing changes.

Revisiting these zones shows that things DO change. We tore through Kael in Scars of Velious. We went back to help the Coldain (again?) and the giants in Rain of Fear, trying to track down all of Cazic’s shards. Now another issue has arisen in Velious, which we are learning about and trying to deal with. We can “go back to the past” by going back to the original Crystal Caverns, Thurgadin, Eastern and Western Wastes. We can “go back to the more recent past” by going to the Rain of Fear zones. We can visit the “current events” by going to ToV and soon, CoV zones.

IMO, even if it seems intellectually lazy to reuse the zone, it still offers something worthwhile : a chance to go see how things are doing in a zone we have not had reason to visit in a while. To see how things have changed in our absence (which is usually not for the better!), to catch up with old friends, and find new and better loot based on old nostalgic favorites.

For those reasons, even if its an expansion I did not care too much for or about, I say, introduce more stories to the old zones and give us reasons to go back and visit a new version of them. I don’t care if its original EQ, Kunark, Velious, Luclin, PoP, the realms of Discord (though I thought their story got wrapped up with Seeds of Destruction), wherever. Bring it on, and let the adventures begin!
