New players - pick a knight if you aren't a boxer

    Thanks for the info. My ac on raid mobs without bard maxes out around 16k (with challenge and warrior group ac buff) and my HP maxes out at 212k with my current gear with cleric aura, SS, and touch of H., so that would be suicide for me, but I do have a bit of room to grow.

    In all honesty though 60k without a defensive disc isn't that bad, that is less than what they were hitting back in CoTF and we have much much better gear now.

    Can any warrior except any outside factor which people have brought up in these threads?

    Well... maybe I'm being dramatic because I've never taken part in this fight and likely won't before the next expansion happens. But if the average hit was 25k... The boss's melee damage doesn't seem to be the biggest factor in the fight, but I could be wrong. So why compare an apple to a tomato? Knights have always said (before DP too) there are certain bosses in each expansion that we can tank; maybe this is one of them; but I will leave that up to other knights that have experienced the fight to comment.

    I'm not trying to downplay your accomplishments, but your post screams of elitism; which the majority of EQ players will never experience. Several people have tried to hammer the point about tanking has a lot to do about raid healing, raid dps, and support from classes like pal, enc, dru/shm, bard; not to mention overall raid dps.Try playing in a raid where half your healing is either boxed or alts who had to camp mains; where your lucky to have 1 bard, 1enc, and 1 non-boxed shaman to boost dps resulting in events lasting twice as long. Try doing these fights with 48 toons (which included raid boxed) in your raid instead of 54 live & experienced mains. A lot of people have no clue about the state of EQ outside of their elite guilds. To expect Devs to design and tune abilities (such as DP) around the experiences of players within elite guilds is crazy. Should it be designed to group-content players...no. But giving a copy and paste to DP&KS doesn't break the game for the warrior class. Should it be a copy past; no... but blindly suggesting a random number without any supporting facts or reasons doesn't work either.

    How many people on any server could be a part of a raid that would think of -attempting- this feat? 60... 120 (2 guilds worth? maybe?) I guess the rest of us should just say... oh.. oh well.. we will get our chance to try this 2 years from now as we all clap our hands while in your presence.

    Just comparing Magelo's, your 30k hps ahead of me... add in warrior abilities to boost hp caps and that will surely help out a whole lot in surviving 150k rounds. Where is the knight (pal) comparable ability?

    Isn't Dichtomic for warriors a mitigation too? maybe i'm wrong... does it only work with a shield equiped or something? Yeah.. I know the timer/reuse will not help you for the full 4 mins, but it still contains mitigation right? Do you know what the paladin Dichto spell does?

    I'm not even going to go into the other things you listed, because I guess those all have comparable knight abilities or clickies...right?

    You don't balance the game based on subpar rosters , that would just be dumb because , the better than average players will just destroy the content. The supporting facts are Elidroth based Warrior defensive proficiency on our lack of self healing which was 25% and then took away a 10% flat mitigation aa and added 5% of it back to defensive proficiency and dual wield proficiency.
    Knights were surviving the content pretty well after the initial learning of TBS and TBM .

    Did you guys need some boosts sure you needed shield flash and a 15% mitigation DP .

    You did not however need 35% mitigation so you could go molo group content with a wizard merc at a rate of 4 yellow cons at a time and also stack your discs up to 70% mitigation/absorb for 2 minutes.

    Which is higher than any mitigation stacking the class designed to be the highest at survival has..

    And you don't have to have a comparable ability for everything we have that is what makes classes in everquest unique. You do know about Spirit of the bear correct ? Other classes can boost your hp too.

    And lastly the reason I am not wasting my time asking for "new"utility is because if we share the one thing we are unique at both of your classes has lists of abilities that are now fair game to be given to the warrior class. If we no longer have a reasonable gap in survivability then it is only right to make us powerful in ways both of the hybrids are.

    And don't you find it odd they gave warriors a useful mitigation/aggro dichotomic yet knights were not able to do their job and they didn't even give them one that is useful ?
    Kind of odd don't you think ? If you needed such a gigantic boost why did the unsympathetic spell developer not see it ? ..Because there wasn't one and Dzarn (the sk that still raids)felt like giving knights a cookie because of the thread titled Where do the developers see sks ?

    Moloing with a wizard merc is clearly OP and should be nerfed back into the Stone Age. Totally unfair and no other classes can do it mirite!

    So
    You have Prof + Mantle (more mitigation than LS/SB by a long shot) - 1 minute (65% vs 55% LS/SB)
    Prof + Carapace - 30 seconds, probably closer in the 40 second range. (50% vs 55%)
    Now you switch to Guardian + SB - 2 minutes (46% vs 55%)
    Switch back to Prof/SB/Bargain - 1.5 minutes (depending on your endurance amount at the time) 45k/1 minute is about 40% endurance which you should have. This may last closer to 2 minutes. (40% base + 70% threshold rune over hits 25k+ (which is just so OP it's not even funny) + 40k sub zero hp + 1% mitigation in the form of mana aka no hp drop vs 40%).

    Still more than you needed.

    Wasn't being elitist. Just pointing this knight notion "No DP = tank gets one rounded" to be bunk.

    When we got DP in the middle of CotF, they didn't boost boss DPS. If anything, it was slightly lowered as WK2 Commander was the highest DPS boss in that expansion and came out before DP (when we had 60% LS), and yes, this particular mob was a bit too high DPS even for knight guardian. But there was not a special boost in boss DPS between CotF and TDS, and TDS->TBM boss DPS boost was particularly small, so I find the timing of this a bit odd.

    Even during UF, HoT, and VoA, being one rounded from 100% HP, even without FS/lS, was not the main cause of death. Boss tanks simply enter rounds with < 100% HP a lot more often than people think. Just because it "feels" like clerics are constantly overhealing doesn't mean that's actually the case.
