We are approaching a week of this madness. How has this not been hotfixed?

Because it seems its popular enough now? Unacceptable. Selfish. So we can do your testing? How about the countless hours that you now put thousands of players through, in regards to having to:

    1) tinker with why this isn't working (and you not telling us its broke)
    2) do your job for you (testing)
    3) reset filters EVERY SINGLE TIME WE LOG IN
    4) deal with lag generated from your inadequacy.(on all servers)

No, making a new tab does not stop the lag generated, nor the "frustration"

So, the things I'm about to suggest applies to the chat filters in chat options. Why was the spell emotes filter removed? that is one of the most spam inducing categories. It absolutely needs to be returned. secondly, i recall a conversation about their being a technical limit on how many chat filters you guys can have, if this is the case, why are you filtering criticals into their own category, they are no longer their own message and there is little reason to have that at all. It's not a useless category but it's far, far less useful than something like spell emotes. It would be useful if that one was split into procs and non procs, and even further into pets and non pets.

Please fix this issue....having to go through and hide "other heals", "other hit other", and "other critical hits" every time that I log on is pretty ridiculous. Thanks.

I understand filtering to a spam window so you dont see spam, but whats the motivation to turn it off completely? Ive always had all chat filters set to show in options. Never know when you might want to do a log search for something.

Aside from raiders who want to search through that garbage to prove they're doing more dps than someone else, I suspect the vast majority of players don't need, want, or care about any of that stuff.

So whats the gain in turning it off though?
I could almost kinda maybe see turning it off (in options) just because, but it seems like some are actually angry that they cant. Whats the harm here?
edit: and iiuc this isnt about the parse data. Theyre talking about other spam unrelated to dps.

I never see it since I filter it to the spam tab, and dont say lag - its insignificant compared to anything else that causes lag.

The one definitive gain from hiding (certain) filters reportedly seems to be the decrease of raid lag. Several have confirmed this. Decreasing literally hundreds of lines of text scrolling every second relieves bottlenecks on one's system, resulting in decreased raid lag. Although hundreds of lines of scrolling text seems basic for a modern CPU to handle, it's not basic for a game created in 1998 to support this much text processing. I'm sure the creators never anticipated 25 years later the amount of spam text generation we see today.

Of course, this is entirely inopportune for raiders, since it's only raiders that often need filters on for assorted reasons. Raid lag has existed in this form since at least Claws of Veeshan on Live (from first hand experience that I can speak to, not sure further back), so it's about time Daybreak prioritizes this. We can't wait another 3 years for Daybreak to improve raid lag by another 10%. It's getting worse quicker than any improvements are helping.

    4. Heals (Yours)
    change to - Nonzero Only
    5. Heals Received
    change to - Nonzero Only
    6. Other damage other

    I will absolutely say lag.

Before this patch, I had all the spam for the raid filtered to the spam tab, npnp. This patch happened, I shoved all the new stuff in there, too.

I lagged so badly on raids, I couldn't function. Hid them from the options window, problem went away. Bombarding our machines with those extra packets on raids absolutely causes lag. Chat filtering and particle effects are the first 2 things I suggest turning off when someone is having lag issues.

100% agree with this assessment and what I've seen as well. Devs need to address this.

Forcefully hiding filters, or setting to non-zero, in "Chat" tab of options is decreasing players' lag and hitching on raids.

Hiding heal filters (or setting to non-zero) is an option for players who don't want to impact damage parses in third party programs.

Devs still need to fix the known bug of heal filter settings not saving.

Honestly, it is work? I cannot believe that. Work......OMG. The damn hide option is there, it just need to save and not reset. I have already enough damn windows.
    I......no idea what to say....

So, you fully intended to have players absolutely inundated with UNWANTED spam? Why? What exactly was the thought process, if any, behind this? I legitimately want to understand why anyone would think having players bombarded like hiroshima with spam would be a good idea to implement and NOT give them the option to hide it permanently? You say it adds to testing time but...isn't that part of your job with a video game? to test? Fix bugs and make the game BETTER?

We really need to be able to Turn off the spam, it increases the lag massive since it came in

And all filters really should have that ability.
