Necro necro box

Anyone tried it? The concept of double fd sounds amazing.

Would love to get some experienced insight.

    Does dot damage break FD?

Iirc it does, the issue with Necro is that last i checked But could be very wrong is there dots do not stack like druid and necro or a druid and shaman. if you tag a Necro with a shaman that combo is deadly AF with the cripple lines slows and buffs for the necro and pets, not to mention stacking dot lines. I have personally tried playing two necro's and its a bit disappointing with the mechanics. However with a druid or a shaman with a necro it does get fun fast. Hardest part imo is getting to level 20. After that things begin to open up a lot.

That’s disappointing to hear. I was enjoying the thought of ping ponging mobs between FD’D necros

I’d love the idea of a nec sham but if nec fd’s the sham is f’d.

Double fd opens up a lot of options i feel like like. But if the mob can only be dot’d like there is one necro, that changes things

There is another option to consider, Make a monk with your necro, while a monks FD is not a spell, and instant, also Monks get AA's later that will clear agro a lot quicker and easier. Monk could also soak exp from the Necro as well simply park the monk FD and kite in say PoM to your hearts content once Velious drops. just some ideas.

Seeing as Teek or Tormax is on Kunark there is also a bit of opportunity having a rog hide/sneak parked while you level them both. lots of interesting places to pick locks That Most if not all people tend to overlook in some areas.

Lastly is the Bard once level 75 hits they get the best pulling feature with a type of "Escape" and Bards speed means your first on scene.

Necro dots will stack, the issue I would see with your plan is how are you going to micro manage two necros?

Playing 1 necro at 100% is going to be better than playing 2 necros at 25% at best.

Necro is not a box friendly class imo. You would do better with a bard who you can just play some songs that amplify what you can do.

Necro dots mostly stack - iirc, only the Heart Flutter / Cessation line doesn't stack because it has a debuff component. You can stack Ebolts + Fire Dots + Lifetap Dots all day long.

I ran a 6 box of necros once upon a time...sending in 6 pets and dropping 6 fire dots + 6 lifetap dots was quite entertaining. I could easily smash red cons because the the fire and lifetap lines have such awesome -resist checks.

I'm not sure what benefit having double FD really gives you...the DoTs will not disappear if you FD, but trying to make the mob ping-pong back and forth might not be as meta as you think. FD spells have a refresh timer of like 15s, so you won't be able to keep the mob in perma-limbo.

As Kobra mentions, necro isn't a great boxing class unless you want to piddle around. Necro/Shaman is lethal and my go-to box...you'll never need to FD with that combo.

Great info and lol at the 6 necro box combo..

What is tanking in the nec/sham combo? Currently doing an enchanter/cleric and I’d like to step away from charm dependency when fighting named mobs
  8. Kobra Augur

What era of EQ? This era on teek anyone can tank. I tanked protector of sky with my shaman because I wanted to farm a silver disc and spiroc feathers.

What mob are you trying to kill that you're worried about tanking it?

If you're trying to duo for exp then join a group its faster, if you're trying to duo named for loot then just slow it and tank it on the necro. Eventually once you hit the 76+ era pet can tank but it honestly sucks as a tank before then.

I just want an alternate duo to the chant/cleric or Sk/sham for pop and beyond. Necro seems fun. One of my first faves.

When it comes to nec/sham here are my concerns:

    -no track
    -no oh for sham
—but nec should really never die with personal evac and fd so he can rez sham? What level do nec get rez
    - i don’t want to be charm dependent again

    Necro gets rez at 53.

Necro itself can solo most content adding shaman or a bard or a mage is just providing a force multiplier for the necro. Regardless of your duo your main focus should be the necro and what provides the most benefit for your necro. I always go with bard long term as my favorite duo. It doesn't take any extra work to get good benefits out of it and it just takes what I can do and amplifies it.

Once you get mercs you have a healer, you have a pet that can finally tank and if you have a bard you get dot improving songs and a few short cooldowns that can ramp your damage.

I would put my bard and necro played just by me up against any other duo played by a single person with no third party tools/cheats and I would beat the brakes off them.

Necro teams well with just about anything. You aren't at max w/o hunting undead which for me is a bit of a problem since I don't really care for those zones. Still, I've just about never had a group where the Necro did not have to dial back their DPS a bunch to avoid drawing aggro.

For what you are suggesting, I would guess there would be several options to try. There is always the charming route and bailing out with FD when things go south. I mean if both of you are charming, one pet tanks the former pet and MOB, the FD Necro gets up and recharms the pet that went renegade. Some manipulation of Taunt would probably let the one tanking everything recover once the rogue pet is back in the herd. Both pets gone? Just two FDs.

Necro pets can tank, even at low levels. For that matter, even an Enchanter Animation can tank if properly prepared. It doesn't work so well once you are at or near max for expansion. I don't think there is a link I can find that shows what can be done. Let's say you have a level 20ish pet and have ~600 hps. The Magician summoned pet toys i.e. Girdle of the Magi'kot adds 500 hit points and the jewelry adds another ~100, not to mention AC. IIRC, Cleric buff Temperance adds another 800-1000 HPS. Difference between a twinked Magician pet and a Necro pet is small and the Necro pet would be superior if the was twinked and buffed while the Magicians was raw. I'm trying to say starting HPS are not nearly as important as buffs and pet toys. Things like Enchanter Haste, and Cloud just sweeten the deal even more. The difference between having a 700 HPS Earth pet and a 600 HPS Necro pet are kind of on a bull when the pet has 2,500 HPS vs 2,400 HPS. It's the way I like to roll, YMMV.

Even at that, if you wanted to split tanking between pets and PCs, it should work out just fine. I mean you only have to get AC on the Necro that is tanking. Other support Necro just casts a transfer of HPS buff on the tank BEFORE the fight starts for aggro reasons and let the games begin. For that matter, Chloroplast cast by a Shaman or Druid are dynomite. Kind of short duration, like 20-30 minutes(?) but really cut down time and level of stuff you can tackle.

I run multiple accounts with multiple support characters just for this type of fool'n around. I try to have two of everything for buffs and resurrections. You have two Necros, on each of their parent accounts you have a Cleric, Magician, Enchanter, etc. Enchanter on account #1 casts Clarity, Haste, etc on Necro and pet on account #2. Swap out characters and Enchanter on account #2 casts Clarity, Haste, etc on Necro and pet on account #1. Easy peasy.

I currently box a Necro with a Shm on Teek.

It isn't super easy but once you get a system down it gets a lot better. Obviously, the best is when the necro can charm a pet. Sure, it adds a few moments of potential chaos from time to time but it's worth it.

I can duo Bridge, GY or Foreman with this combo. CH and gating mobs can be a pain. I generally wait till sub 50% to bane or double ebolt.

When raiding I still have no issues keeping that Necro at or near the top of the list. It's a powerful setup

I'll admit I only ever really play up to Luclin Era and I usually just rely on the spectre to tank, but if need be, I send the shaman in there to take hits.
My shaman is usually raid geared, and in combination with Slow and Torpor, it's almost never an issue.
