Necro Grips have always been allowed to stack and have multiple dots. Only ever blocked by a Beastlord's Roar line, or SK's Dire (Convulsion/Seizure), because of the strength or AC Debuff (I forget which). After patch, it's not allowing necros to stack this line of dot with other necros. Older version of the Grip line are being blocked as well.
Looks like the Grip line has been labeled as a debuff and is no longer considered a DoT, hence no stacking?
Player A's Rank 3 Grip also blocks and overwrites player B's lower level Grip spell. I've seen this first hand.
There's no changes since the spell was added. I am betting player B just got their rank 3 and that's why you are now noticing it. I suspect whatever stacking issue is causing this somehow relates to the one that affects Beastlords' ability to use Roar of Thunder. We hit this once on accident and we just blocked every necro from using their Grip dot for the next minute. Nope. The spell didn't change. The way spell stacking on this last patch changed. The spell has always been able to be stacked by necros. Every necro can run their own Grip of Queiteus/Zorglim/etc... And they both go on the boss for damage. Rk. I, II, III could all be on the mob until this last patch. It has been a staple of guilds and raid forces to ban beastlord's Roar of Thunder, and SK's Dire Seizure/Convulsion lines because 1 of those spells will block all necros on a raid from using their Grip of XXX spell. Druids have a similar line of dots, Tenebrous Sunray for example, which can be stacked on a mob. 1: Increase Spell Damage Taken by 1916 (v297, Before Crit) 2: Decrease Current Hit Points by 3020 per Tick 3: Decrease Fire Resist by 94 5: Limit Resist: Fire 6: Limit Max Level: 120 (Lose 100% per Level) 7: Limit Effect: Current Hit Points 8: Limit Type: Detrimental 9: Limit Type: Exclude Combat Skills 10: Decrease Armor Class by 93 to 123, Based on Class There is just something screwy about Grip of Quietus, as in it's not behaving like a normal dot. It's acting like it's only a debuff, which would explain why it can't be stacked.

III is on an NPC) is falsely reporting that it's being blocked by Grip of Quietus Rk. III
We have not been able to reproduce this yet. Are there consistent reproduction steps you can share with us? E.g. the order the spells are being cast in.
Everything is working properly stacking wise: but the wrong spell causing the block is being reported.. Steps to recreate: Step 1: Necro1: cast Grip of Quietus Rk. II {ID: 63350} on mob Step 2: Necro 2: cast Grip of Quietus Rk. III {ID: 63351} on mob --Before Necro1's DoT fades... Step 3:Shadowknight cast Dire Seizure Rk. I/II {ID: 62722/62723} on mob --Necro 1's GoQ will be overwritten) ---Before Necro2 or Shadowknight spells wear fade Step 4: Necro 1: cast Grip of Quietus Rk. II again {ID: 63350} --Necro1 will get the message-- Your Grip of Quietus Rk. II spell did not take hold on <MobName>. (Blocked by Grip of Quietus Rk. III.)

Ok.. I've spent waaaaay too much time testing and retesting and doing things using 3 necros and 2 SKs..using Grip of Quietus rk. I, rk. II and Rk. III... then Dire Seizure Rk. I and Rk. II... I couldn't test using Dire Seizure Rk. III.. because I don't associate with any Shadowknights who would waste a raid glowing spell on that one. Found a lot of other interesting bugs and stacking issues with these 2 spell lines as well. Not relating to the original bug stated, but: Because the spells both have a Strength debuff and an AC debuff along with the dot component, a lot of it has to do with the order in which spells land, couple of examples of some more stupidity with these lines: Scenario 1: Any Sk casts Dire Seizure Rk of any rank ---Any other SK can land their Dire Seizure spell, regardless of rank. -------No necro can land a Grip of Quietus of any rank until all Dire Seizure spells have worn off first. Scenario 2: Necro1 casts GoQuietus (any rank) on mob. (spell lands) Necro2 casts GoQuietus (Rk. II or III) on mob. (spell lands) SK casts DSiezure on mob. --Spell lands and overwrites Necro1 DoT ---Necro2 DoT remains on mob Necro1 Casts GoQuietus on mob again, and the spell will land! Casting in this sequence makes it so that from that point on, as long as the original necro maintains their Grip spell, you can put any rank of either spell. I know this new information isn't helping re-create the original situation, but it does have a lot to do with it. Everything matters as to what order the spells land that a debuff to STR or AC from the mob. It's causing stacking issues, and combinations that have to be jumbled so you can either land the best STR/AC debuff or land the lower str/ac debuff first, then stack dots after. It seems like a lot of extra work that most raid teams won't understand or execute properly to land all spells and cause a lot of fighting matches between the DoTing classes that aren't as coordinated as some raid teams. After learning about this new set of 'stacking' issues. I'm sure there was another str/ac debuff spell on the mobs where the incorrect message was produced. Because when I looked at one of the examples I provided in more depth: Dire Seizure had already worn off of the mob and only Grip of Quietus rk. II, III and Grip of Zorglim Rk. III from a necro still using the Combo DoT from CoV expansion. In the following example (and last one I'll give on this thread) both an SK and Necro have DSeizure and GoQ on 2 mobs at the same time. You can see both Dire Seizure Rk. II and Grip of Quietus Rk. III land and do damage (DSeiz rk. II cast first, GripoQ rk. III cast second). Then when I try to land GripOQ Rk. The SK debuff faded (notice no SK damage for last 2 ticks of Necro1's Ticks at 7:23:08 and 7:23:14), yet still the mob was flagged as having the STR/AC debuff from the SK. I would be happy to send you my entire log file so you can dig through the whole parse and see what other spells landed on it/where active at what times. But I think I have to be done digging through the logs, line by line for this unless I start getting paid for T/S fees.. and sorry after my time in ATC maintenance, you don't want to pay what I charge, although it would be nice to see some friends at SPAWAR San Diego again ;p. Suggest removing the STR/AC Debuff from the Necro line of this DoT, as no one would ever use this spell for that purpose (Hrmmm maybe less calculations needed for less lag?). Or at least change the spell data so that they can both be ON the mob, but only the 'best' debuff is applied. Either of these 2 solutions would alleviate so many problems and hatred between Necros and SKs. (I haven't even TOUCHED the stacking issues both these spells have with the BST AA 'Roar of Thunder')

Interesting, as I went through those logs as well and didn't see Roar of Thunder or Dire Seizure cast at all on that raid... I did get 3 run away emotes, so I can't be 100% sure. But it is pointing again to other buffs that debuff 'Str', and the necro casting the combo dot version from last expansion. Again, the dots themselves don't block each other, but what is being reported to the player is false and incorrect. The thread is marked as 'confirmed' so, hopefully they know what is causing it, and just haven't put it in a patch yet.
