Bump. The player reported has been bragging about exploiting this for profit and in game support GMs refuse to do anything about it or even give any amount of recourse for the players who have had their hard work stolen.

    Any official update?

They have multiple groups standing there around the clock

Unfortunately **I think** the system of the star lock doesn't work "that deep." I.E., it works on the NPC spawned by the quest, but not then an NPC spawned by the NPC...
I'll do some research, but, I'm not sure we have a simple solution of just "turn on the lock"

Thank you for at least looking into things. As someone who deals with some development in my professional life, I can understand the effort involved in making changes to get rid of a bug in legacy coding. However, if there's not an easy solution on the loot lock coding, then I'd propose the other easiest solution is to send a message by actually penalizing the accounts of players that are not only exploiting the code limitations but blatantly bragging about it in public channels and profiting off other player's efforts. If in game support isn't able to return the lost quest items and all the players affected continue to get preyed upon with no recourse, it makes it difficult to have the motivation to continue forward.

Could also get rid of the first 2 mobs and directly spawn Xene with a loot lock. If you're able to kill Xene the first 2 mobs are irrelevant anyway. I have no idea what the lore implications are but it's much more important to have a good game than whatever that change would do to the story.

As a quick fix I would suggest to add a trigger item to one of the * secured pre mobs, and make Xeno invu and non kos until you hand in the item which then respawns him as * version, like the Ragefire.

You could do a few things at the same time:

Remove the robe from the brothers, or make them unkillable.
Getting them to spawn is annoying, but having 3 multiboxers with 12, 18 and 30 chars around you who kill them as soon as you see a bit of cloth is stupid.
    ---
Activate "Encounter Locking" until PoP is over and everything is instanced.
    ---
Give Guides more rights, so that they can also take care of ingame problems.
Then we can contact them and give them information about, AFKcampers, multiboxers (12+) or other things that disturb the social peace etc.
Nobody can tell me that 12+ boxers still do it themselves without SW help.

    or if possibe

Spawn all 3 with a * locked to the player and the 3rd does not go active until the other is dead.

So are yall doing the turn in and magically a group shows up out of nowhere and steals the mob? Surely no one is actually doing the hand in to trigger the event with another outside group just standing there waiting for you to pop it for them.
  15. Ngreth Thergn Developer

Okay. I have come up with a hack that will be pushed with the next patch.
I don't want to give details so I give less information for folks to try and get around it to grief.
  16. bameldar New Member

they sneak around most of their crew invis so unless you have a sight buff you can't see them. but they also have 2+ monks with epics & a charmed mob to out-dps race moderate to low forces. The fight can be done with 1 group so the first time folks get completely blindsided. I'm glad that the bug is potentially getting fixed but GMs not enforcing Code of Conduct for exploiting and extorting players just cause they've been encouraged to do it and have profited from it is still a bit sour in my mouth. I wish we could at least get our Eye of Kaiaren returned for all the work we've put in.

so Ngreth said he cant tell us how it was changed, but its changed after the next patch. And we can't be told because he doesnt want people to figure out how to screw people over still.....hinting slightly at the fact that there will still be a way to do it? I hope not.
  19. Ngreth Thergn Developer

Eh. It's more that y'all, AND the griefers are often smart, AND there are many more of you than me. Someone might figure a way I didn't think of. So... I'm mostly trying to avoid giving absolutes. My testing didn't show a way around my fix, but again, one person!
