Mischief Server looks like it will be the best EQ TLP server ever

Truebox is great for the people who like to stop playing after PoP. Some of us enjoy the content after that era and true box by that point is a terrible idea.

Why DPG can't put a disclaimer saying the server will drop truebox after a certain point is beyond me. It would be a good compromise and if they did do that I would consider the server.

It does. Also, go on craigslist and you can get a laptop that will run EQ for $50. It won't solve if you want to six box, but it will let you two box on the cheap.

devs like "consistency" a little too much in my book, I've argued for changing the equation on truebox so its there up to the late 70 era of expansions and gone after it.
Personally as interesting as this new michief ruleset is I already decided i will never consider any TLP server that has truebox for its entire run to live, but i do like truebox for the era of the game prior to GoD.

Just proves never doesn’t actually mean never...unless it’s PVP then that’s never going to happen.

I can't wait to see all of the complaining from all of the kill stealing this server will have.

No different than any other TLP.

Devs have not said never to a PvP TLP, but they have said there would need to be a big enough audience to support it - nobody has shown there to be enough players for it.

So if one day a couple thousand people show up on zek after telling the devs they will be there at a certain time and date then it could absolutely happen.

Last such attempt gathered fewer than 50 players, which is nowhere near enough.

I can’t wait to see all the new places that will become camps. Pretty neat game is more open now.

    My predictions:

It will flop when people realize they actually like knowing where the loot drops.

Also, you're going to see people find certain spots where loot will drop very quickly, farm them to death before others catch on, and then DPG will nerf it. Resulting from the early discoverers profiting greatly. That's happened on a lot of the earlier tlp's with various bugs, but here it'll be content basically working as intended. It will screw the economy early and hard.

When the server plunges into inevitable chaos, complaining and ultimate failure, primarily due to the random loot setup, DPG will blame the FV loot code and never give it another shot.

Phinigel 4.0 will release just when the mess is blowing up. Maybe even this fall before the yearly expansion comes out.

The enforced rules and named server for Brad is what made Aradune popular...that has faded and the new server will just take people from Aradune, it's only going to take RMT people from Rizlona. I have zero intention of playing the new server...but I love the new server none the less. Great job Devs.

It won’t take much from Rizlona. It’s not a box friendly server. Aradune should lose some small amount of RMT, but it’ll be interesting how much moves to Mischief. Free trade opens up more serviceable loot options and items are always in circulation, which suppresses their value.

Ok I have to say whoever thought of this ruleset is awesome. Random loot just sounds cool. No people spawn camping certain locations for specific loot. I just hope epic drops arent off random mobs. Also item comparison update is something ive been wanting for a while. Good job.

A lot different. Now there is a chance that even trash rares will drop the best loot from their level range. On other TLPs, there has been some restraint because people knew that the rare mob just had junk and wasn't worth killing. When it has a chance to drop some coveted loot from the RNG, it's going to be kill steal city.

It really depends, if named mostly drop their own items but have a chance to drop from the wider pool then it will be a nice bonus and should be fine. Never being able to set up a camp for an item you wanted would really kinda stink though.

Also after velious raid gear is going to be so incredibly common that group gear might not even matter for the rest of the servers life.

I mean who really cares that you can't get a FBSS if sky belts are droppable and have no level rec on them.

Its going to be a wild ride.

With countless zones to spread people out across. No longer are people crammed into 2-3 dungeons.

The only problem I foresee is people permacamping epic drops (things like monk pipes or gimblox rings are tradeable on FV) to sell. Unless they put those on random NPCs too

Crazy that these were actual player-advised changes to TLP. I think it will be a very popular TLP.

That means a bot team here, a bot team there, a bot team over there, etc.
