Maybe they just don't know what they do right

Everquest has lasted 15 years. It has done a lot right. However, I feel like the dev's don't know how to fill out the content and give us players what will keep this going for 15 more. So maybe we need to explain it to them.

I am sure there will be very different opinions but maybe some thing will rise to the surface.

I like the totem and shroud quest that came out of the recent PoW mission. It's something new that I can evolve in a reasonable amount of time.

I like new zones, raids, spells, AA's, and gear. All of these have taken a turn for the worse recently. We need to get back to more content.
Zones-We are getting much fewer zones per expansion/update
Raids-Seems this set of raids missed some elements of fun. Liked some of the things, but in general they seemed to eat up time for no reason but to eat up time. I am sure an entire thread could be done on this.
Gear-WOW the gear seems like such a small increase over previous gear that people are taking 6 months off without a care in the world because everyone else won't get that far ahead of them.
Spells- ummm 3? is this a product of us not moving to 105?
AA's-Can you open an unlimited AA that gives us 1 hp, mana, endurance for each AA? I mean give us a reason to play. They already scale difficulty by how many you have.
Opps think I strayed back into what they are doing wrong, but it can point them in the direction of what they can do right.

Opening up rare items for currency, or even the currency mechanic so we can buy some raid loot, was a good move.

More rare items, with quests gives us something to do to make them more powerful.

More old zones with revamped content. The Castle Mistmoore and Sol B were cool last year.
I know a lot of people want to see Old Seb.

Been a lot of interface changes that I think have been over due. Those have been awesome.
Also extends to keeping our buffs in PoK and things like that.

Putting very nice items at the end of an expansions achievements for all the missions/quests has also been nice.

Daily's/Hot Zones to help players catch up and those of us with toons to have something we can achieve in 30 minutes has gotten me to log in many a night I would not have.

    ==================================================================
On to some ideas for future content.
Bane weapons? Uses your slayer tasks but tied to an item and scales with level so they have a meaningful lasting reason to be used. Could be an aug, or weapon but could scale like the tear. Would have to have real power, as number crunchers would let us know if they were just a waste of time having no real effect.

New Power Sources that effect heroics and can be recharged by killing only monsters from a specific expansion.

More use of item charges, making staffs/wands with nice effects but churning the crafting market. Can the system do 100 or 1000 charges? They would have to have some cool benefit that makes them different then standard spells available and attractive to use. Could still be class specific.

You could make potions play a bigger role in the game. Many other games have.

Could make special items based on faction with your god. Give everyone a chance to change once before you implement it. Knights, and Clerics maybe get an edge here, making theirs more powerful.

Could setup zones so they get more powerful, and drop better loot if no one has been hunting in them for a while. Maybe rare spawns happen more often, by increasing the modifier of their appearance. Maybe if a zone is ignore for a long enough time a raid force type mob spawns and roams around till someone notices.(think rift had something kind of like this.)

Could get back into a selection of Augs for weapons like the old days and add them to a currency.

Bristlebane can make any zone suddenly a new adventure.

We haven't explored the ocean floor. I have read lore of entire fleets going down. Imagine the treasure!

Maybe one of the greater gods isn't happy with the norrath gods lost control/power and comes to restore order with his primals. Could be a very elemental focused expansion. Maybe if we don't win against him all the gods we know and love will be replaced and while we were their undoing, we also become their savior.

I guess I just love this game and want to see it continue. So these are ideas and things to get the ball rolling. Maybe I just have to much time on my hands.

Agreed especially if they give us interesting new mechanics.
Also don't abandon spell lines or give class abilities to other classes and never update the original classes spell.

I can give numerous examples of abandoned spell lines that continue for some classes an not for others.

Expand this ... make it so we can get raid equivalent gear as a casual if we are willing to grind/quest for it. I don't mean make it easy but make it possible. A casual may only be able to get a few pieces before the next expansion but it would be possible.

Only if they leave the old zones available as instances. this has always been one of my pet peeves. Back in the day I finally got access to Plane of Mischief then like 3 weeks later it was revamped and sucked.
This would be good ... he the availability of the components to make the items would need to be easily farm-able like the nodding blue lilies for the shaman potions and the effects need to be useful in the content they are intended for like the shaman HOT X potions were when they were introduced.

And Shaman (yes we are the redheaded step children but still)
    NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! swimming zones suck.

One thing that would be cool is to Explore the lesser gods, Rodcet Nife for example.

Bring back Master Yael and other retired NPCs.

Let us get the BFG again even if it doesn't have an effect It was awesome to see in game.

Make armor choices more than just the hero's forge garbage.. I remember being a shaman wearing full plate. And having rangers in robes. Not every member of a class should have the same look. I even think that certain armor sets should have a unique look like in Velious.
    Anyone remember gnome skin?

Character model revamp ... it is LONG past time. make them more varied and allow for better customization.

Underwater zone, just use the neriak 4th gate buff idea for it; do mission, get buff on zone in that lets you move around normally underwater in that zone. Think levitate, but you can move up and down with it.

I've said this before - but "levels" are a totally artificial "construct" as it were.
One can have higher ranks of gear, many spell improvements, and overall power improvements, without ever adding another "level" again. (saving a lot of wasted work on "spread-sheet cookie-cutter" replacements for every single spell in the game.)
Better focii could appear, as well as better weapons, armor, mitigation, damage output etc.
In fact, I can't think of one thing that a "level" (in and of itself) gives anyone, to prepare them for the content ahead (that's not designed yet). However, levels do serve to obsolete the content behind a lot faster, helping to turn slightly older zones into wastelands all the faster.
IMHO levels are not "new content" nor do they "lead" to new content by any real force of their own.

As for the spell system? I'd like to see a slight revamp, where any all new RkII spells would be available via the expansion currency too. Farming for Glowing Motes and Cantrips (or farming the raw plat to buy them) is boring to tears. Sure they can still be named droppable, and player tradeable, just with another avenue to get them as well.

For many many years the group game has been relatively devoid of raid mechanics (emotes etc). Now SOE feels the need to add this to the group game. SOE you need to figure that if what you have done for the LAST 15 years kept us playing it might be a good idea to continue with that instead of change it up now.
