[Mangler] Non toxic hard core guild?

Are there enough people who are going to Mangler that want to play in a OW competitive guild like faceless and RI, but without the toxicity that comes with having to treat other players on our server like ?

If you are interested but on the fence, what would it take to make you come over? Just gauging interest in the player base.

Most players in hardcore guilds aren't toxic, it's just that the ones that are get all the attention and brand the guild as such (and other members by association)

Thats my assessment as well Brum, I also think people are put off by having to deal with that daily if they want to clear OW content. the reason OW isnt fought over between guilds is because of the way toxic guilds handle competition.

    "Toxic" is very subjective
As soon as a guild becomes "anti-toxic" they become non-competitive
As soon as a guild becomes non-competitive they become an instance guild
You can't really have one with out the other.

you can compete for OW targets like a Server GM was watching your two guilds for trouble like they use to before AoCs. You can not run groups out of camps because you need something from them. You can do that while still maintaining the lions share of OW kills. We have just been quiet and let toxic leaders go unchecked because they were they only ones leading the raids for gear.

No you can't. If you don't run people out of VT shard camps, VP medallion camps ect you're just 100% gonna lose the race and be unable to win races in zones that require keys and stuff. There is certainly room to be "less toxic" then some of the top guilds have been. But just doing stuff that is required to compete will be considered "toxic"

Mangler is finally small enough with the bulk of those types of players going to Selos, I see a chance for this type of guild, if there is community interest in it. Its the same old formula, minus on all the tactics.

I thought you were recruiting for AoW? So are you implying you're forming a new guild...or turning AoW into this hypothetical OW competition guild?
  10. Innate Elder

Im just gauging interest right now Koshk. I already have the recruit add for you if there is enough interested to pull the trigger on this.
  11. Innate Elder

And AoW and I had a creative differences.

It doesn't matter man, like as long as at least 2 guilds try to compete for server first or raid mobs. You're gonna get labeled as toxic simply for doing things that are required to be competitive.
Like you don't have too be the guild that trains other guilds trying to do raid mobs
But if you race a guild and their side dispels charm pets, you're gonna have to be "toxic" and dispels their charms also or you're simple gonna put yourself at a massive disadvantage
You can be the guild that doesn't train random pugs at Efreeti
You can't be the guild that "waits their turn" at the FG shard champ.

It's just the way it is.

I think you're underestimating the increased popularity from the hardcore classic player base that will be coming to Mangler now that the exp rules are more favorable.

I agree with the prior posters here; to be competitive you have to be "toxic." EQ has always been a competitive game. Latter day mechanics like AOCs have removed some of the necessity of being competitive but there is still a great advantage within the game's structure to remaining competitive for OW spawns and key quests.

I'm actually concerned that Mangler might be one of the least competitive servers because by now nearly every guild has resolved to be instance-only to avoid the headache of trying to be Numero Uno.
  14. Innate Elder

Im willing to bet X amount of hours of trying to prove you wrong there. Worse case scenario, I tried to do something decent
  15. Innate Elder

I think with the absence of Faceless and RI the other raid guilds will be able to bump into each other for OW content, and hopefully it doesnt always have to end with one side getting destroyed. I get being horrible is the most effective way to win, im saying its not the only. And I would rather lose a OW target than get into a dispell war
  16. Ermok Lorekeeper

Serious question; how many progression servers have you played on in the past and were you in the "top" guild on any?

not sure RI will have any real presence on Mangler. And I have done, The Combine, The Sleeper, Mordan Rasp, (skipped LJ/RF) Phinny, Agnaar, Corinav, Brekt for a little. And I was in RI for bit before quitting EQ last time I played.

It sounds like you have a good heart and a great dream but it's just not grounded in reality.

Reality is that for 20 years the best strategy if a player wants to maximize his ability to kill end game content and acquire high end loot is to be a part of the top guild on the server... and There Can Be Only One. Everyone else will hate that guild and Forumquest it ad nauseam whether justified or not.

If you had played on P99 you'd see where excessive carebear socialism Everquest becomes a Lawyerquest with extensive rules and regulations governing who can kill what when and no one gets anything. It's not pretty nor desirable.

Wait wait wait, hold the phone. People actually PLAYED on Brekt or is that a troll?
