Tried to switch our Bolt of Molten Shieldstone with the VoA era Spear ...
    Combat Dummy Azia in 351s, 56299k @160395sdps
    --- Igniz 41956k@119534sdps (121613dps in 345s)
    --- Igniz`s pet 8814k@25110sdps (25621dps in 344s)
    --- Custodias (Igniz) 5529k@15751sdps (15751dps in 351s)

    --- Breath of Mysaphar - 1
    --- Force of Elements - 15
    --- Lightning Breath - 1
    --- Necromantic Curse - 1
--- Remote Remorseless Servant Rk. III - 21
--- Spear of Blistersteel Rk. III - 25
--- Spear of Molten Shieldstone Rk. III - 26
    --- Spear of Molten Steel - 25
    --- Star Strike - 2

Insufficient Mana to cast this spell occurred at second 348, needed a bit to pick pet off the Dummy ;-)

So you'll choose between two separate multi-binds depending on the situation? Necros and our spell set swapping will play a tiny violin for you.

And a large violin for your actual nerf. (I don't know if that phrase means what I want it to mean but I'm on your side on the bs rain crit cap nerf.)

I don't know all that much about wizards or mages but thats how it used to be. You had big nukes that made everyone go wow when they hit but you couldn't always use them or you would be medding in short order. You then had smaller nukes that didn't make you go wow but they also didn't bleed you dry nearly as fast. I even think you had some just to keep going nukes where you were not impressing anyone with the damage but you could cast them pretty much endlessly in a pinch just to keep going.

Wizards and mages both got away from that so much so that many of these lines were called worthless and left in the dust and it just became cast the giant nukes all day every day no matter what it does to your mana pool and if you went out of mana you fought for more regen claiming you weren't tuned properly.

That's not really what I meant (I already have 3 multibinds), but FWIW I had Necros in mind when I said "while I suppose it could be worse."
I have no problem having to use different spells for mana efficiency. My concern is that Mages have very little utility in raids outside of DPS (we have mod rods, but those have been stagnated since HoT, and you only need a Mage alt for those). With that in mind, we have to actually be competitive with other DPS classes. With this change, that is certainly not true as far as our caster counterparts, and it's hard to say as far as melee DPS goes (since they are already significantly hampered in TDS). My concern is not really how things were or were supposed to be 5-10 years ago, but moreso staying relevant as a class in raids. If tuning our sustained around lower DPS spells is how the devs want to do it that's fine, but causing only mages to have this issue does not make sense.

With a bard in the group using 3 different mana regen songs (pulse, chorus, aura) + using glyph of lost secrets (I'm making AA faster than I use on glyph)....allows me to weave RS, 2 ranks of spears, bolt, and salvo (no rains). Overall dps has gone up, but it takes a ridiculous amount of MR to pull off. I'd like to see what a wiz could do with all that MR....
  11. Brohg Augur

pulse chorus aura …no Crescendo? :p
  12. Necromonious Augur

gotta remember to buy that one, and modify my /melody since all my songs are short-duration
  13. Brohg Augur

391/tick for rk2 of pulse+chorus+aura, Crescendo is another 425/tick averaged over its cooldown timer :)

On Zek I've found ways to fix the mana issues mages run into on raids. It's not a perfect situation, and I could mention how easily I can open a door in my house and daybreak would start hiring carpenters to nerf houses, but there are solutions to your issue that are more than reasonable. If you try hard enough, you'll figure it out.

mostly weave magic instant - ethereal fire - magic instant -claw ( no more rain!) - magic instant...

We use a crapload more mana that you guys... that's why we need regular harvest procs.

5 minute Vitio parses make me sad. Also, you need better Mages.

This is the state magicians are currently in ...

But yes, that Vitio fight didnt go very well ...

Edit: Both parses were with pretty much the same group setup, with ENC and DRU in group - same for the other caster classes (Necro had a Bard though).
