Mage Bolt spells

    I was recently told that the mage bolt line of spells like cinder bolt will hit the first mob it hits and not the targeted mob. It seemed like the bolt was hitting the mezed target in front of the mob i had targeted and breaking the mez. I thought the bolt spells were a direct damage you just needed line of sight to hit the target with. Anyone clear this up for me.

    Bolts are pretty unique spells. Unlike regular DDs, bolts are a "physical" object created when you finish casting the spell. The bolt travels from your character to the target, and can "fizzle out" if it runs into another object before your target.


    From what I've seen, bolts wont break mez of other NPCs in their way:

    They will be intercepted by hills / uneven terrain:

    Sometimes they collide with zone geometry even when you don't think they will:
