Hello I played EQ since Beta and then for many years on Fennin then Druzzil Ro. I have been chasing the dragon with other MMOs since and never can find the feels that I got from the old days of EQ. I don't want to auto level to 85 as I want to start from the beginning on the new progression server. My main question is can I somehow skip the tutorial and start in a starter town? I would also like to join an active guild and work my way up in levels. Its great they keep making new content for this game that started so many of us on the MMORPG adventure. Any thoughts or advice would be great! Thank you!

yes, you can skip the tutorial. on character select/create, just uncheck the tutorial button before entering world. check your starting city, though, because i think it's CR by default. as far as guilds, i would check the guild recruitment section of the forums but ask around to see if they're a good fit for your play style. I'm slightly biased, but you could look up Lions of the Heart on Xegony =)

Progression servers (Ragefire and Lockjaw) don't have the tutorial or Crescent Reach yet, and not for a couple more years.

Starting in CR is kind of nice as it allows easy access to plane of knowledge. Make sure you read Borek's guides also.

As Borek-VS said, the progression servers do not have a tutorial. On character creation, you select your starter city just like you did in the original 1999/2000 game. Humans start in Freeport (revamped, sorry) or Qeyons, Elves start in their respective cities, half-elfs have the greatest choice of starting cities.

The only "tutorial" you have on the progression cities is to do as many of the quests you can find for low level characters, and to kill, kill, kill in the starting zones. Experience is slow, progression his hard, and you really want to group and get into a good guild. There are several on either server (Ragefire/Lockjaw) to choose from.

    Good luck, and welcome back.

    Hi Skatan,
I recently came back myself and was overwhelmed with all the expansions, so in order to get my feet wet, I decided to start on Ragefire which is one of the Progression servers.
It may be hard and frustrating at times, but so far my experience has been very nice. There are many helpful people around, and if you go in with a persistent mindset you will be fine.
I started as a bard and after hitting level 11, have currently grouped my way up to 38.
A few things to bear in mind is that it is currently (Ragefire) on the Kunark expansion.
    A few helpful links:
http://destef.dyndns.org/spells/ This is for spells up to level 50 for all classes I believe (I was able to get all my bard spells up to 50 following this)
http://www.allakabor.com/eqatlas/atlas.html This is the most important so far for me for help navigating through zones, and zone connections.
    http://www.paullynch.org/eqguide/ Guides, includes progression guide
    http://www.eqtraders.com/ for Tradeskills
Commonlands tunnel is where trading happens

So far for me it has been bittersweet and full of nostalgia mixed with absolutely satisfying new experiences. (This is my input based on returning straight into TLP server, my bardy is only character I have)

    Kindly,
    Loriem

Ok Im recently starting back again after many years away, and what is progression server? When I played there was only role playing server, pvp servers and regular? Please explain to this old noob LOL

Progression servers are only available to ALL ACCESS members. They start with older expansions and add the other expansions back in over time progressing through all the expansions instead of the regular servers where you see all the expansions that are out.

This thread below contains a lot of useful EQ links. I suggest downloading maps from the map links.
