Just to verify: You handed in the sword to Buzoan. And you didn't zone for any reason at any time. (Like wipe/rez or...?) Those seemed to be the only conditions I followed, and I got the helm after 74 kills. If you met those conditions, the task still sounds broken.
We've now done this 5 times. We have killed at the zone-in. Nobody dies. Nobody zones in/out. Received the helm on a char that didn't have it 100% of the time around kill 70-75.
First time yes, puller died, but he had the helm. Only one in group does not have the helm. This last time, 150 mobs killed (I did escort to first ambush step), no one died, left zone, etc. and still no helm on last toon in group missing the helm.
Yes... afk's during the time. I didn't have time or ability to sit there the entire 6 hour expedition time.
This is 100% repeatable for the bonus. 1. Get task and zone in your whole group. They may not leave, and nobody may join once everyone is inside. It is my personal opinion that deaths or merc deaths do not matter, provided if a +person+ dies, they do not break hover and go to bind, but just take rez. 2. One person runs over and turns in sword. Rest of group stays at zone in. 3. One person loots armor (i doubt this is required but i did it each time) to update the first portion of the task, then ignore the rest of the task. 4. Kill skeletons and other assorted mobs at the zone in area. 5. 72-76 mobs later, live long and prosper with your new helm on one person in the group who doesn't already have. Location does seem to matter. Both myself and another guildie who was trying to help someone get this done were doing our kills over by boars, and that area, and after a few hundred kills it never happened. But near the zone in area, it happens every time successfully for us.
Got task and got to collect armor spot killed 15 gnolls for armor pieces continued quest up until escort, did NOT start escort went to SW corner killed the ravager dogs for 62 kills and got helm on the person we wanted.
Unless magelo only works for the other 4 toons to display inventory, no the final toon does not have the helm. As soon as I can log on, I will /outputfile everything and search those too.
Yea I don't know what to tell you guys, I've done it exactly like I said 4 times in a row now and it's worked every single time. Bring a few that have it already and the one person ya want to get it. Zone in, hand in the sword, go to wrogs and kill 73-74, give armor to person who needs helm (prob doesn't matter but I do it to be safe), Profit. The mechanic seems to work a lot like Judicator, except it doesn't pop him and instead rewards a helm. Just like Judicator, you can't zone or it resets the kill counter. I keep the person that's getting the helm out of combat and safely hidden near by. You also can't add anyone to group as that resets the kill counter as well.(Just like Judi) Easy peasy, has not failed yet.

He said he's checking /outputfile. *Inventory* gets all on your person, bank, and shared bank *RealEstate* gets all in personal houses *GuildHall* gets all in guild residences Only thing it misses is things sitting on a Parcel Vendor - otherwise, pretty complete view there.
I had real bad luck with this also after reading old news and seeing a lot of only takes "75 - 100" kills. But have repeated it successfully twice in a row now. Zone in, give sword to minotaur. Killed pigs only with 3 toons and 3 mercs. Got all armor pieces turned them in, went back to killing pigs. 129th and 149th kill received Helm. Freaking stupid box druid got the first one, so I did it again and Shadowknight got it, but needed 20 more kills then first attempt. Good luck, hope this helps.
Here's my new thoughts, because I think a couple of people with higher-than-70-ish kill counts have mentioned handing in the armor: 1) Either the bonus has a moving/random target number of kills, OR 2) Maybe your kill counts are being reset BECAUSE you hand in the armor. I specifically don't do anything EXCEPT hand in the sword at the beginning of the task. I do not hand in any of the armor pieces or progress the task until after I got the helm.
The last two times I got it I had 70ish kill counts and handed armor in the middle of those 70ish kills.
I dunno, then. But I do know that I am tired of trying to help troubleshoot this buggy task that is frustrating so many players - FOR YEARS, while being kept blind by the devs as to what the trigger is even supposed to be. I got my helm, and it sounds like it was pure luck. My sympathies to those who continue to have trouble, year after year.
My guess is that either we're all missing something and the devs have no responsibility to tell us what we should figure out on our own, or more likely the quest trigger was written so shoddily that they don't want to explain how it works because it's an embarrassment. Either way, my recommendation to those looking to get their helm is the above mechanics and the below promo I LIVE FOR ANGER AND FRUSTRATION! First things first. Epic promo, thank you! To me, this sure sounds like an acknowledgement that the task was bugged all last year: But my problem isn't so much with the bugged task; that's par for the course. DBG have shown clearly that they have no responsibility to tell us anything I just wish they would have the courtesy, for all the players who use their own leisure time to post here, to let people know how they intend it to work. Just so people know when to give up and stop wasting time on a bugged task.
