LDON should be combined with PoP, DON combined with OOW

Mischief is entering that post-rush era now where everything kinda winds down until the next release. Unfortunately the next release at this point is LDON, which really doesn't bring anyone in.

It's still something to do though, and a fun way to level up alts. Is there any reason why it's not simply combined with PoP releases? Or at least released 1 month in? The loot is about the same if a little less. All it does is add more content to PoP, similiar to LOY which does come with PoP. If anything LoY is more of an actual expansion in comparison.

The same goes for DoN. It's tiny. It doesn't bring on much other than 2 endgame dragons that are basically anguish tier. Why bother separating it out? That OOW->DON period in general is usually the TLP killer. DoN Definitely does not need 8 weeks on top of Omens.

TL;DR Release LDON early on mischief/other future TLP and don't consider it an "expansion" cause why not?

Fortunately this time around LDoN is only one month long.

I still can't believe how much people undervalue augments. They're so good.

No pleases we want 3 months of ldon.

On a more serious note, releasing it the last month of pop might be good. They should also look at releasing LOY alongside an earlier expansion. It just ends up being ignored content that no raiding guild does beyond the spell quests.

As someone in a top-tier raiding guild on Aradune, I would have hated it if DoN had been combined with Omens. LDoN was definitely a lull, but shortening it to 1 month seems like a better solution than combining it with PoP. Combining it with PoP would have just made even more PoP content instantly obsolete.

Again, as a top-tier raider, I (and a small, but significant number of others in my guild) spent a good chunk of time in all 5 LoY zones (hunters). Could they be released earlier? Sure. But releasing LoY with PoP isn't outlandish. On the other hand, LoY adds a lot of cure spells that were not intended to be available for PoP, so while this content is trivial enough anyway, that would just further trivialize it.

End of the day, no schedule will appease everyone. And with so many different rulesets, it's entirely possible that what works for one server won't work for the next.

I don't know who's idea it was to separate LDoN from PoP but Ldon used to be 15 days after pop launched. It was actually really nice to have those to grind out.

Having only 1 month of LDON and not overlapping with pop for the majority of PoP tells me that they don't fully appreciate how long it takes to max that charm.

Your comments are a little confusing. Loy released 1 hour after pop.

I apologize for the confusion, I am aware of that, but I figured that was close enough to call it "at the same time."

I wasn't trying to boast about being a top-tier raider (which I'm not... just in one of the top guilds that clears content quickly, personally I kinda bring the power level down a bit). This was just meant to demonstrate that not every "raider" shares the same view of wanting DoN and Omens to coincide. Not every "raider" agrees that LoY should precede PoP. I respect the OPs views, and his arguments are not without merit, but personally, I don't agree with all of them.

Yeah, I guess just the way you phrased it made it sound like you thought they were far apart (not just one hour). Like you were debating whether they should be the same or not ("could they be released earlier?"). But I guess you were just doing a hypothetical of if they weren't in the same release that some people would view combining them in different ways

    When was this?

Combine DoN + OoW and DoDH + PoR.

I wouldn't be upset if they accidentally flipped the switch turnt ldon on today. Shouldn't be more than a month after pop launches with how much of a time sink the charm is.
  13. Kiaro Augur

It's probably because you can replace all of ldon augs in god and oow, on Aradune I'm fully augged and the only ldon augs I have is a single anger iii
  14. Furryous New Member

Oh boy, how wrong that is..

You did not do any research then. Lots of Ac aug are not replaced for a lot of expansions. 35 ac and 30 ac in good slots, nothing close in until TSS iirc. And just talking about those since you are a warrior i assume
  15. Kiaro Augur

I've done my research, and yes, my paladin on Phinigel was decked out in AC augs through the nose in this era.

On this warrior I've discovered that its thus far inconsequential to minmax AC augs. Yes you could, but it really isn't going to make or break your ability to do content. It will change later on where AC Stacking becomes mandatory, but the 65-75 era is not scaled in such a way that makes tanking a challenge.

Also nothing stops people who wish to minmax from running LDoN raids out of era. You'd probably see MORE LDoN raids get run during PoP because you haven't had 3 months of collecting PoTime gear to make the LDoN drops inconsequential.
  16. Furryous New Member

That is 100% False It's probably because you can replace all of ldon augs in god and oow

  17. FranktheBank Augur

You guys should distinguish ldon group vs ldon raid augs.
  18. coltongrundy Augur

That is not true. But even if it was, so what? That's a terrible argument. Almost all gear gets replaced in the next 1 or 2 expansions. By that argument why does anyone raid in plane of time? Except for things like TA, almost everything in PoP is replaced in the next 2 expansions.

This is not a complete list:

can't get more than 7 hagi on an aug until Underfoot

    7 hagi https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=64573

Specialize skills reduce mana cost of spells (there's also an abjuration one, but that one's probably not worth it)

Can't get Type 8 35 AC augs until SoF, even then there's only 1, need to wait until SoD to get more.

Other damage augs from ldon that would be used in addition to the GoD augs since the GoD augs are lore and many melee classes will use more than 1 weapon, these wouldn't get replaced until DoD:

Who, in their right mind, is going 7 hagil over raw stats like ac/hp on their augs when by OOW you'll be hitting the hagil softcap?

Only good for hybrids and casters. Melee have no use for these. Alteration, Evoc, and Conj only ones worth anything.

These are nice for tanks, but you're raiding LDON just for tanks? I don't even want to raid LDON for these and I am a tank. There are far easier augs to acquire than these.
Useful for 1 class each. What about the other 14 classes? Not very efficient to do for a handful of people and not even guaranteed you're getting them.
    False.
    https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=53540

Comparing items to augs isn't smart. Most augs, at least for tanks, don't get replaced within an expansion or two.
  20. coltongrundy Augur

What an ignorant response. I list items for every class and you're like nope even though there are individual items for every class none of them are for every class so I'm just going to dismiss them all. You can make these statements about literally any item in the game.

What are some good items in PoP?

    Darkblade of the Warlord
    Time's Antithesis
    Songblade of the Eternal
    Orb of Clinging Death
    Pulsing Onyx Ring
    Symbol of Ancient Summoning
    Earring of Influxed Gravity
    Ethereal Silk Leggings
    Whorl of Unnatural Forces
    Shawl of Eternal Forces
    Grimror's Guard of the Plagues
    Raex's Chestplate of Destruction
    Trydan's Chestplate of Nobility
Can't argue with that. You're absolutely right. There's no point in raiding in PoP because your specific class can't use the majority of items that drop and everything that you can use will be replaced within 2 expansions. These are your arguments.

That's DoD not GoD or OoW, so you're still wrong.
