Brand new install of Everquest on following PC: Windows 10 Home 64-bit 16GB RAM i7-6700K GTX 1080 updated drivers Monitor is running at 1080p@144Hz The first time I tried to load the game, I got to the in-game login screen (after the one in the launcher) and logged in without issue. After that point, I got to a screen that said "Logging in to server" and it seemed to be hanging for a while, so I eventually alt-F4'd to close the game and try again. Now, every time I try, I load the launcher, attempt to launch the game, a window with a black background titled Everquest pops up, flickers a few times (maybe like it's trying to find an appropriate display setting?), and then disappears. That's as far as I can get into the launching process now. What can I do or try to get into the game? I've done "Validate Game Assets" multiple times and it doesn't find anything missing or any other issues. I've tried "Game Configuration", restored everything to defaults, and that also doesn't work. Edit: Setting compatibility mode to Windows 7 allows the game to launch, but is that required? Am I missing out on anything by doing that?
Sounds like a display issue like you said. Windows 10 will show Direct X (all the latest versions) but for some reason Everquest might need the old Direct X 9C that is not in the new windows. You can have both on your computer so the download does not hurt any thing and it does seem to help a lot of people. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dow...109&751be11f-ede8-5a0c-058c-2ee190a24fa6=True
