latency issues

  1. sojero One hit wonder

I have some guildees that are from across the water, and they usually have a 200-250 latency where in the states I have a 65 or so latency.

They have noticed that their dps is a bit lower than some of the others, yet they have the same multibinds burn rotations etc set up. Does anyone know if the latency difference makes a big difference in casts or dps? I haven't been logging in as much of late because of life to test, only been loggin in for raids. Figured someone else might have tested this.

For the sake of easy math, let's say they are burning at 100k DPS and their latency is 265ms while yours is 65ms. The difference between 265ms and 65ms is 200ms or 0.2 seconds. That's worth 20k DPS on a potential 100k DPS burn. While it's not quite that straight forward, the difference between someone plinking away at their keyboard when they notice the spell gems refresh and someone spamming their multibind dozens of times a second is enormous.
    Iila likes this.

I play mostly on FV these days where my ping hovers between 175 and 200. When I (rarely) check in on my AB alts it's usually under 40 which makes a huge difference when casting spells in particular.
