We are excited to announce Krono, a new in-game item coming to EverQuest! Here are some questions and answers to get you familiar with this new object.

    Q. What are Krono?
    A. Krono are in-game objects that can be redeemed for 30 days of membership time. They are sold in the marketplace for real money only, or they may be purchased from other players via the broker or private trade for in-game currency.

    Q. What games support Krono?
    A. Krono can be redeemed for 30 days of membership time in EverQuest and EverQuest II.

    Q. What can you do with them?
    A. You can buy them from SOE using real money, buy them from other players using in-game currency, gift them, sell them to other players for in-game currency, trade them to other players for other in-game items, and consume them. If you consume a Krono, it is removed from your inventory and 30 days of game membership time is added to the account associated with the character that consumed it.

    Q. How can I acquire them?
    A. You can buy a new Krono from SOE for US $17.99 or less. Players can also gift Krono to other players, trade them, and sell them for in-game currency.

    Q. Wait, does that mean I’m getting a membership for free?
    A. It depends. All Krono are initially purchased from SOE using real world money. After a Krono is purchased, it may be freely gifted, traded, or sold for in-game currency to other players. If another player gifts a Krono to you, then yes, you are effectively getting an item for free that can be redeemed for 30 days of game membership time. However, somebody previously paid real world money for that Krono.

    Q. Why would I buy a Krono?
    A. There are many reasons to buy Krono. For example, if you’re a veteran player with a lot of in-game currency, but not a lot to spend it on, you can use that extra currency to buy Krono from other players and turn it into game membership time. Alternatively, if you’re a player without much in-game currency and can’t buy things on the broker because prices are too high, you can consider buying Krono and selling them to other players to build up your in-game currency. You can also treat Krono as in-game commodities, and build up your in-game currency by buying and selling them on the broker for a profit.

    Q. Does this replace any existing payment methods?
    A. No. Krono are not a payment method. They are in-game items that can be purchased from SOE and later redeemed for membership time. The introduction of Krono into the games will not replace any existing methods for buying game membership time.

    Q. Can I trade them between characters?
    A. Yes, they may be transferred and traded between characters using the trading window, shared bank slots, in-game bazaar, and in-game parcel NPCs.

    Q. How can I sell them for in-game currency?
    A. Depending on which game you are playing, you can trade them in person to another player, post them for sale on the broker, advertise them in chat channels, sell them in the bazaar, etc. Please note, however, that players may not sell Krono for real world money.

    Q. Do they expire?
    A. No, Krono do not expire.

    Q. Is this a permanent part of the game?
    A. Not yet. Initially, we will release Krono as a trial program. We will watch to see how they are embraced and used. If the trial is successful, we will continue the program and roll them out to new games.

    Q. Are Krono transferable between games?
    A. Only until the Krono is traded or consumed. For example, when you first purchase a Krono from SOE, you will be able to see that Krono from any character in any Krono-supporting game on the same account. However, once you place a Krono on the Broker or trade or sell it to another player within a game, the Krono enters that game permanently and cannot be moved to a different game. When your character consumes a Krono, the Krono will be removed from the game and you will get 30 days of game time for that game (or 30 days of All Access time if you are an All Access member.)

    Q. Are they refundable?
    A. No.

    Q. Do Krono work for game memberships as well as All Access memberships?
    A. Yes. When a Krono is consumed, it will add 30 days of game membership time to the account associated with the character that consumed it. If that account has an existing All Access membership, the All Access membership will be extended by 30 days. If the account has a regular game membership, that membership will be extended by 30 days. If the account has no current membership, then 30 days of regular game membership time will be added to the account.

    Q. How exactly does the Krono work?
    A. You consume the Krono by clicking the Use button on your character sheet next to the display of your Krono.

    Q. Is there a limit to how many Krono I can purchase each day?
    A. You can purchase up to 25 Krono per day with real world money – either all at once or in separate transactions. There are no limits to purchasing Krono in-game from other players.

i have one question that hasnt been asked in the Q&A above...or maybe it was and i just didnt understand fully....

    Q. If i have a 25% discount on my account from last summer... will using a krono to extend my game time interfere with my $97.08 per year gold membership?
  3. Trajet D'Or Augur

Please make sure you add Krono to /buyer.
  4. Liliana Augur

Please make sure these CANNOT be copied to test server and duplicated. People did that with LoN packs when they dropped and caused all kinds of problems.
  5. Piestro Augur

It should just add the time and not change anything else.

Love it! Love everything about it. How soon?

Sounds like a great idea, and will definitely curb the people who buy game cards for plat. The only problem I see is, seeing as these cards will cost $17.99 or so, you're limiting this to those who already have gold and a ton of plat, or to those who have a ton of plat, and gold just lapsed.

With the current plat caps a level 100 can have 50,000? plat on silver. I've seen 30 day game cards go for 150-200k pp on a regular basis.

All I see this new system accomplishing is giving long time veterans a deserved break on sub costs, and farmers a way to farm on someone else's dime. If you're still into trying to make EQ appeal to people who truly don't want to spend much money on it, you need to rethink this.

Plat caps are being removed from silver and free because of this. Its already on test.
  9. Bigbear Augur

ok thanks piestro for the reply

So now those people lucky enough to have unlimited real world cash now have a way to generate unlimited in game cash, great :(
  11. Liliana Augur

They always have, this just makes it legit
  12. Liliana Augur

Btw was that really the best item slot you could come up with?

I have a great idea. Move radiant crystals to the alt currency screen, you know with the rest of the alt currency. And place Kronos in their spot.
Put the Consume Krono button right where the reclaim button is.
    Will look 10000x better.

It has always been that way. People have been selling/buying/trading plat, items and accounts since the game was released.

I recommend that we get a pop-up confirmation window when trying to use a krono. Maybe also with some text saying that it is non-refundable. Also, what does using it do to Free and Silver members, make them temporarily Gold? If so, they should be warned about what happens when their paid time lapses.

I have been asking about the highlighted part since the Krono was originally announced and have no seen a direct response. What is the purpose of the "or less" part? Are they going to be $17.99 if you buy them one at a time, but cheaper if you buy like a sets of 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25? Is the price going to vary depending on what subscription you are using or what game you buy it from?
A pop up saying, no refunds when using the Krono ok that's fine. Of course, when Free/Silver members use it they become gold for 30 days that's the whole point of the thing really; but really there is no reason that they should even need warned about what happens when the 30 days ends. The people who play are competent enough to read the item and what it does.

Guess this is good for people wanting to sell them cause they want more plat but that would be the only reason to buy one of these, i mean 18 dollars for 1 month, could just sub for cheaper if membership is the only reason you would get this.

Test never had a Plat cap to begin with, the test server is gold for anyone who plays on it no matter if your account is Bronze or Silver so there are no restrictions on the test server like the live servers.
  17. Notinterested Augur

I understand that but it's on the latest test patch notes.

wondering how someone who is silver and can not log on any of their toons on that account can access this feature so that they can get the krono and add game time to make their account gold.
  19. Liliana Augur

Why wouldn't they be able to log a toon in? Don't have unlockers?
Make a new toon if they don't have unlockers, doubt all char slots are used

Why just the Krono, a specific item that has only one use? Why not allow station cash to be exchanged for PP? Not only could station cash be used for subscriptions, it could be used for xp potions, ornaments, mounts, subsciptions, transfers and the like ... using station cash allows a variable amount of $$ to be used instead of increments of $18.

One thing is certain, there is a demand whether it is right or wrong, for an exchange between real world currency and virtual currency ... the fact that the black market exists is proof of that. Do I personally have an issue with SOE getting in the loop and making money on that fact? Not at all ... and if it helps extend the life of the game, even better.
