Has anyone ever killed this dude! What the heck, had him at 14% today with a crappy Researcher add then wipped. No biggie... but then after that, I couldn’t get past engage basically. Dude was hitting me and my boxed toons for 50k to 453000 damage... on a single hit. Seemed like everytine I died he got stronger... Last named mob I need for Hunter, only reason why I care to kill him. Ideas? I finished EoK progression (group stuff) today and since he was up I wanted to finish Hunter...
I've only killed him once back in March. I was waiting on ground spawns when he popped and ambushed my Druid however my healer/wizard mercs stole agro but were killed by Overload. I managed to switch to my SK, hit deflect and started tanking. All was going ok but once deflection dropped damage was very spiky. The fight lasted another 18 seconds but luckily my druid managed to twincast some DoTs on Overlord before switching to spaming heals and my friend was playing his berserker. The fight took 2 minutes (took 20 secs to realise I was getting beat up) as I was not expecting a name and most of my burn AAs were down from clearing the area. Biggest hit on SK was 35k while my Druid took a 45k hit so it sounds buggy if you are getting hit for 453k in one hit
Yes. Done at SEP30th with/for a guildie. Group was 2raid-warriors with their cleric and shaman boxes plus one cleric and one rogue mercenary. Erm... Have you completed "Essence of the Dragon I"? If not, then do so. If yes: Use a tank? Have tank use defensives? Have tank stack defensives? I have read the "horror stories" about this one, so we went at it with more caution than i normally do for group-nameds. The tanking warrior used 1h+shield of course and max single hit he took was around 20k, 3-digit hits were not too uncommon. The other warrior concentrated on the cleric initially and went over to the warrior for a bit of DPS once it became obvious that the mob was... well.. much easier than expected from reading those horror stories. Even though the tanks here were both raid-geared with over 200k HPs and around 6k AC unbuffed, the figures and the spread of the parse suggests that this one should be quite doable by any group-geared warrior too. Especially if he has the help of more than basically a shaman and another warrior. p.s.: Since these forums seem not to allow HTML tables to be displayed properly (urgh!): The max single hit on the tanking warrior was around 20k; the max round on him was around 55k (an isolated spike). The majority of the fight he took 15k to 30k rounds, only 3 rounds exceeded 45k. Fight took 2minutes.
Yes I have done progression, I was useing defensive discs, brought a warrior friend in to help, we had a good engage then a long lag spike hit and we wipped. I’ll see if I can go thru the log file and find a couple shots to cut and paste.
Having the essence of the dragon effect eliminates his ae, and helps your heals. It has nothing to do with how hard he is currently hitting. Last time I tried him he was hitting a group geared tank for 2x130k and me a raid geared bard for 2x150k, iirc. This is like 4x the power of any other named in the zone. Something is wrong.
I double checked my logs and the following shows damage taken on my SK and which defs were active. Everything was going ok until I took nearly 3x more damage in 1 round and that was with mantle running.
He has the ability to like twincast quad something iirc. There was a thread about this in veterans lounge I believe. I haven't killed him in a long time but I used to set up off the portal area down near the crater but to far side from where you enter at. I would pull him off the topside ledge and pin him against the wall on the bottom crater area. I used to pin it with my back to the wall so his frontal ae couldn't hme drain my mercs. On engage I used to roll unholy guardian click it off, vizat disc and epic, shield flash during placement of mob. Enc, bard 2 wiz mercs and 1 merc healer. Full burn and once vizat dropped I would go deflection. This method always worked for killing him. I'll see if I can get him to pop today

He's not the only one. There are group named like this in LC and FM too. There is a thread somewhere about the group named in EoK that use a new type of spells that do physical damage. And they can also twincast those physical spells sometimes, 1-rounding anybody but disc'd tanks.
Have killed mob twice - once, he didn't seem that bad right after he spawned, and another time we found him up after someone else had tangled with him (which took few tries finally almost 3 groups to kill while warrior used fortitude - he seemed meaner after each try, he was hitting for around 200k). It seems that he powers up after each attempt on him, not sure if that is a bug or by design but that's been my impression.
I've killed him a few times, it's always a pleasure because only a couple of my boxes have done the EoK progression, so they get blown out by the aura that the green sarnaks cast. Ironically it seems like the two named mobs other people need help the most with are the Overlord at the very end of EoK and the named spiders in Lceanium at the very beginning of EoK. I can say that as of a couple months ago I wasn't getting hit with >100k melee swings from the Overlord, though he and other named mobs cast some pretty hefty DDs. I also only ever killed a fresh pop of him. Next time I'm in the area I might sacrifice the bard and ranger and an android a few times to see if he can't achieve final form.
I've killed his powered-up/bugged version before, but we had to burst him down within the duration of Fortitude + Flash of Anger. Think I had a Shaman, Bard, 2x Berserkers, and a Shadow Knight with me. This was a while back before the Disconcerting nerf. It has nothing to do with a physical-damage based spell being twincast, it's normal hits that are ramped up for some reason. I found my own bug report from December:

Powered up, a wizard using mana burn with IoG and Haze took him out in seconds. I didn't even have a chance to nuke after debuffing. If the mob has not powered up, he's relatively easy. Chanter, necro duo'd with 2 healer mercs. The necro did an awesome job pulling him out of the room solo.
Killing him on first engagement is normal. Even trivial. He powers up, permanently, while fighting, so successive wipes make him entirely untankable. Weaponshield/Deflection/Fortitude combos are the only way to clear him out at that point. Get some extra folks, make a little raid out of it. It's pretty sure they'll all need the kill credit anyhow.
