Another question: Will there be a dark mode/non-graphic option for the forums? I'm a man working in an educational institution, so when I take a brain-break from work to see what's going on in EQ, I really can't have scantily clad ladies (or dudes) showing up on my screen. I currently use the Firefox plug-in Stylus to assert a dark theme on the forums, but I can't rely on the person who created it 6 years ago to be ready to create a new theme for the new forum system.

So, same company but no carry over of PMs and Watched Threads...

Looks like they XenForo didn't want to put in the work to make it truly an upgrade.

That had nothing to do with, the reason it did take this long to create the the forums is because of the work which had to be put into it. Some things just quite simply could not be moved.

As for dark mode, there are plugins which can create a darkmode environment, but we will not have one at the onset of the forums.

By "they" I meant XenForo, not Daybreak. I assumed that XenForo did not do the work to make importing from the older to newer version complete, that is including PMs and Watched Threads list.

I was in no way saying Daybreak didn't do the work. I figured that Daybreak would have exported/imported those if it was an option (or really, just the default way it should work).

I'm happy for a dislike button. Maybe the vet forum can finally expose the gatekeepers that prevent people from offering feedback they'd be worried about otherwise.

Saved (browser save each one as html) my 184 conversations on the forum to my hard drive. Only took me an hour or so.

Also saved my 16 pages (450+ threads) watched threads list (browser save as html each page, so 16 html files).

It was easier than I thought it would be.

I still think XenForo (not blaming Daybreak in any way) should have had this work with the upgrade but since Angeliana was kind enough to let us know they would be lost, I had the chance to save them.

Looking forward to the new forum software knowing all the old forum threads will be carried over.

I'd like to offer a suggestion to the powers that be. It would be helpful if a message popped up for players logging into EQ about the upcoming forums change. Both to publicize the change and to remind players that there are forums. I talked to two people in-game this evening who professed ignorance of these forums.

Are stickied threads going to get carried over? If so, can the CRC Farce thread be not migrated (no one can respond to it anyway, and noone knows who is in the mystical and defunct CRC anyway?)

Night Eye works great with the new EQ2 forums, so I'm sure it'll be fine with the new ones for EQ (although it's useless on the current ones). Still, it would be nice to have a DM option baked in as more and more websites and apps provide that capability.

prolly wrong place but i dont see a topic for the new fox pet... can ya consider taking off lore tage so i can get a few for my housing village pls :)
  12. Fanra https://everquest.fanra.info

I'm fine with them taking off the lore tag. However, as a work-around, you can claim it on multiple characters and have them all place it in your housing. A bit of a pain to have to create characters (if you don't have them) and assign them all permission to do so on your plot(s), though.

Don't forget that Daybreak is on version of the forums that is very old and likely over 10 years old which has an impact on the migration to a new version. There are likely not many people who are trying to do this large of an update and the amount of work to migrate everything is likely fairly complicated. It is also likely that if they had been keeping up with versions they would have been able to keep everything as they did each upgrade.

That being said my understanding is there is a decent amount of custom code on these forums to link it back to our accounts which has made upgrading more complicated and why it has been put off for so long.

While you're updating forums, can you ask about adding a landing page for forums.daybreakgames.com? It just goes to a 404 page

Time to consider my first post for the new and improved forums. Lots of possibilities. Hmmmmmm

Both are new to the EQII forums. The Class Skill Suggestions were requested specifically by the developers. The subforum is so devs can create polls there if necessary or wanted, and then the topics could be moved to Resolved when completed.

The Suggestions/Feedback has a subforum so when a Feedback or Suggestions topic is resolved, the topc could be moved to a Resolved section.

No, Custom Avatars will not be an option.
