Intermittent Access Issues (July 15)

The login issues reported this morning have begun to be resolved. However, some players may be unable to connect to SOE services intermittently for up to 48 hours, including websites, forums, and games. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Not been the least bit intermittent, here. Just solidly out for the last five hours.

It seems you have forgot to fix everquest.com so we would have a long wait... Everywhere else seem to be working fine. (Google DNS 8.8.8.8).

I too have not been able to log on for nearly five hours as well. Wish they'd give us some actual information as to what happened. Did they get server bombed again? Did they do tomorrow's patch early?

They forgot to pay the bills.

So they forgot about everquest.com (or it not propagated yet). So therefore login servers and the world servers and zone servers will fail to resolve so we would not be able to play.

still can't get into EQ...does this have something to do with the windows defender update last night?

How do you forget about something like that? Also, how do you say it might take up to 48hrs for people to use services when you have a very important content release tomorrow?

They say dns updates should take up to 72 hours, but generally they be ok after an hour, when the root servers get them

I can log into EQ2 now but still not EQ. Guess DNS propagation isn't complete or My ISP has cached it on their side too, might take a while.
  11. Ebonylight-Xegony Elder

Thanks, hopefully that'll be the case.

To oversimplify, Sony's servers are up and accessible. Those who presently cannot connect to those servers are the unfortunate victims of their own machines, their ISPs, and the Internet at large. DNS propagation takes as long as it takes. Sony has no means to make the rest of the global network hurry up ~
  13. Fanra Augur

Changes to domain information can take up to 48 hours to propagate around the world.

Once SOE didn't pay the bills, the name was changed by Domain Name Servers around the world to be open. Now that SOE has paid the bills, the Domain Name Servers around the world have to update the listings.

Nothing SOE can do now can change the fact that Domain Servers around the world will take time to update their information. SOE does not own or control the Domain Name Servers.

However, the root servers doesnt even know about everquest.com yet, so I think they missed that off the list.

Kinda bummed that I can't log in, but at the same time the reasoning is pretty funny.

Too bad domains aren't immediately available after they expired . I would of owned everquest.com around 6:30 am EST

And you would have had it taken away from you around 7:00 am EST.

Please fix Everquest so I can log in. It is currently not repaired yet. At least the people in charge of domains do not know it is, and they're the determining entity.

It's impossible to paste ip adress directly in EQ files? Bypass the dns?

Incorrect...they would have had to BUY it from him at a price that he wanted.
