Instance Raids..Please

RG is not your competition, they will not be in VP until Velious unless you allow them. And they will need 8 Trak kills and 100% turn out from those keyed players to contest you in VP.

RG is our competition. I don't know what part of that you're missing. They're contesting us, they're the best geared guild outside of TL. They have the numbers to compete. THey could get 4 more Trak kills, and compete, easily.

You seem to be under the assumption that parity=competition. Thats never been the case. They're equipped and skilled enough to compete with us and makes things very interesting. They dont just sit on mobs, they're out exping and enjoying the game until its time to rally. My hats off to them for doing it the way they should be.

Follow their example, and you may see more success.

Instancing would be nice for those of us who just want to experience the content throughout the TLP timeline. Leave the static dragons in game for that "competitive" world. Server firsts, etc..

How do they compete with 45 keyed when you have 72?
  5. crazyman New Member

Yeah RG has had soooo much success with all those trak "kill". Especially since that one kill was with a strat that can no longer be used. /rolls eyes...

Bottom line is a vast majority of the population benefits from raid instancing. If daybreak wants to retain customers on this server they will see that's in their best interest to address this issue before the tumble weeds start piling up.

If you want a sustainable and "classic" end-game people want to kill the content. Gear out their characters.

I played on Vallon Zek from 2000-2004. Competing consisted of killing another raid force, and then killing the raid mob. If you could kill the guild who wanted the same raid target, then you got to take out that raid target. Loot and scoot policies, which were player-enforced, ensured that another guild wouldn't come and snake the mob if you wiped once or twice. If you were unable to kill the mob, then it was up for grabs again.

Some people are talking about competing for mobs, without understanding how they're misusing the word. If competing consists of being able to gather a raid force at 3am on a Tuesday morning, then it's really about having people in your guild who are willing to wake up to raid 15 year old content at the drop of a hat.

Stop talking about competing when all you're doing is showing commitment to dropping whatever you're doing to knock out 15 year old content.

I support instancing by the way. I'm 37 now, not 22, I have a wife and a life. For me, being able to raid Sunday night at 9pm or whatever, on a set schedule, is more conducive to my enjoyment of the game.

I've been keeping an eye out ever since I quit to see how the servers are doing. It looks worse every time i'm peeking. That said i'm going to resub in a heartbeat if they instance content.

    Godspeed.

I really doubt the current raid-content will be a good experience if instanced. The races for these targets is what makes my heart pump and love this content at the moment, not the difficulty of killing the targets alone.

The huge mechanized raid encounters - and events that last for 15 minutes on live servers with one F up from a single character killing the whole raid, makes a strong push for it being instanced.

Kunark is basically one of the greatest group-content expansion in EQ history, the Raid Content on that continent is very limited. Coming of Velious, huge amounts of raid-content will hit the server. Things will spread out a bit.

RG can compete with TL, but some factors must be in place before the odds are in Rosens favor. our two guilds has two very different prime-times giving that the majority in RG are European and most of TL are American. Prime-time is the only factor giving us an advantage atm.

TL has some of the most dedicated and skilled players we know in their roster + an extremely efficient raid-organization.

We tried going for Trak few days after our first kill. Again, we were racing TL. We lost the Race, even with higher numbers than they had. Reason. All TL were lv 60 and their individual DPS performance totally smashed ours.

We gave it a thought and wouldn't go after Trak for some time.

So we've been working on levels, gear, epics and Dps optimization for the past weeks.. trying to get better at what we do. Because primetime advantage alone doesn't do the trick against TL.

Same we compete with 45 to their full raids?
  15. Porygon Augur

Such a good post. Someone who understands the game, why they lose, and what to do to be better.

THIS is why RG can compete and has been around forever.

I get that EQ can be simple, but I suppose you have been supporting yourself with some sort of box group? Not beating on the dead horse, but that in itself would ruin the fun for a lot of us.
At the very least, I would assume that you are a long time member of TL and kind of "made it here" long before you became a self described casual raider. Most of us would have to have near perfect attendence record to even made it to the apply stage, not to mention gear requirements.
I remember being a casual raider in EQ. It was an ideal situation, having a character in the server's top 5 for the class while having controlled playtime. I admit i got there because I was "part of the furniture" being a member of the guild for long, long before it even was a raiding guild. I suspect you somehow benefit from a lucky status which we cannot easilly emulate.

You can spin the story that RG is your competition all you want, but right now we're talking about a hypothetical future where they might be able to get 45 into a zone you've been farming for 3 weeks. We've got 10ish weeks left of Kunark if the vote passes for 3 months. They're at 1 kill in 4 weeks, not looking great. And Rosengard is the best this server has to offer in terms of competition to your guild. It's like Usain Bolt challenging Chris Christie to the 100 meter dash.

You asked how 45 people can compete with 72 and in the same thread some guy from the opposing side comes in and verifies it has been done.

Um, when was there racing for anything on Lockjaw? There was a rotation agreement since its inception. If you consider racing towards endgame fun, then that's still a select few guilds. However, only 1 or 2 guilds could be there for a kill around the clock. Players had actual shifts for camping purposes. Then, it's a dps race between the guilds who are present. Sometimes, you wait for days and lose. I agree that FFA should exist on a specifically-tuned classic eq progression server. Rotations should not exist because they never did.
  20. Lee81 Augur

Essentially, my guild can handle 24/7 camping and the dps race. May the best guild win!
