Instance Raids..Please

My guild has a whole lot more than 72 members, but did you even notice what's happening on Lockjaw? We are effectively shut down because we can't gather a raid force 24/7. It is FFA now. Why should I keep playing? Should I keep paying money to watch others flaunt their gear and feel great about themselves? Or, pay hundreds of US dollars for no drop gear? No thanks!

Do you have a bat phone setup? If not that is your number 1 problem and should be resolved immediately. It's very easy to setup and it's not much to ask of your guild to allow a text message to be sent to their phone when a raid target is up for you. They can set sleep timers on their phone to not allow notification from that number between X and Y time if it's a bother.

MM only fielded 50 people (18+boxes) and failed on Nagafen this morning at 22%. If you had a handful of people there to clean up you would of gotten Nagafen down.

You are shutting yourself down by taking no action. FI and the other rotation guilds are not competing with you.

Lol I have a daytime job and make good money from it. If I leave it, then I am broke and a bum. I can't dedicate hours to a game like that. I should've never started a character on these servers. The enforced rotation was wishful thinking. I am so unbelievable angry right now.

I have a daytime job as well that pays good money. Luckily I have the capability that I can login for 20 minutes or less to kill a dragon when I get a text. I'd bet that many of your guildmates can do the same (even possibly you considering your posting constantly on the forums during the day).

The problem is relying on people to be on when X spawns. No one has time for that garbage...
  5. Lee81 Augur

Yeah, I think that most professions don't allow you to log into a game for 20 mins.

I think you would be surprised who can and who can't login. Honestly, any guild that wants to do raid content that doesn't have a bat phone is crazy. You may think that bat phones are for your 'hardcore no lifers' but it's even more ideal for a casual player who can't spend all day in a game waiting for something to happen.

Definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I suggest you try something new and the bat phone is numero uno.

I don't see why they wouldn't keep the buffs on the raid mobs. It actually makes the game challenging....slightly. I would expect you would see the buffs continue to the new server. It will still curb rmt'ing. Which is the goal per say

    Honest question.

Do you guys really believe that the top end guilds are full of people who don't have real jobs?
I don't know many people in TL who don't work full time jobs. I can't think of anyone who doesn't except maybe 1 or 2 on disability.

I just really.. really hate constantly reading this stereotype that keeps getting tossed around. It's simply untrue.

None of our jobs allow us to show up for every raid. Hell, my own raid attendance is only at 50%. I miss raids due to work all the time.

    Well said.

I'm sure most of TL, FI, etc have careers, family's, kids, etc. The point I was trying to hit home about the bat phone is that it's a huge benefit to me as I'm busy with my job, my wife, my kid and the bat phone allows me to be notified when something is up. I can't spend my time sitting at my PC waiting for something to happen which is what casual guilds rely on. Of course you don't have the numbers online when something spawns! RL is busy and you have better things to do than to sit in EQ and wait. Luckily there's a little bird that would be happy to notify you when something is up so you have the option to login and do it or not.

If certain times you're able to gather a raid force to kill targets, I'd suggest you guys gather up when it's most conducive to your guild, and have at it. We (MM) saw Nagafen up this morning, and mobilized with a skeleton crew (about 18 mains+boxes) and got him to 20%.

We didn't get the kill ultimately, but we also didn't throw our hands up and say we're not going to compete. If we see a target up, we'll likely go for it if we feel we have a good shot at it.

We're not expecting every kill, in fact, on a server this large, I'm okay with a minority of kills and sharing with capable guilds. This doesn't mean that we won't be competitive - we'll be selective with what we feel we will compete on. I believe the majority of the guilds agrees overall with this statement as well.

This also does not mean that we're not open to a fair and balanced rotation that includes all guilds of all calibers, I'm always open to a rotation. When a certain guild wanted 3 months of complete FFA, then 3 months rotated, I encouraged a mixed rotation that we eventually went along with. Will we get to a point where there's equality on opportunity? Time will tell.

I work 10am-7pm CST Monday - Friday (and an occasional Saturday 8am-5pm), I can login here and there to raid, I do miss some raids. I have a life outside of the game, I go shopping, eat out, movies, watch TV, play with the pets (3 cats and 1 dog), and even play other games. My partner and I play together in TL. Yet here I am with one of the highest RAs in the guild. Stop making excuses because you have poor time management skills or you're just too lazy.

    +1000

You mean between your busy life you just happen to accidentally be online whenever TL raids on a whim? How is that even possible? I bet I know :)

Great, enjoy staying on Ragefire when the new TLP launches since you won't need instances. Enjoy that server to the fullest. I'll enjoy instanced raids to the fullest.

See no issues we both win. I won't join ragefire, you don't join the new TLP.

Is the irony lost on you? Your post was great till the last line.
  16. Esper Augur

I do not think anyone is against the new server being instanced. People are against the current servers being instanced.

It's more about priorities, FYI - to you, you don't mind being interfered with when you're not planning to play and jump on at the drop of a hat a good portion of the time.

Personally, I don't - I like to play when I want to play - hell, I didn't want to get a cell phone until 2008 because I like compartmentalizing my life, it's quite disingenuous to assume your situation translates identically to every person.

Heck, for those that have kids I can't even begin to understand their nightmares as a life-long DINK and trying to do batphone nonsense.

[Note: There's a reason pro-batphone people tend to skew younger]

    Completely understood.

With all due respect then, you should just wait for the new instancing server that is coming out. I tried offering suggestions to help your play on the existing server ruleset (Ragefire & Lockjaw) but you're not interested. Myself and others that play on these two servers aren't interested in instanced raid content.

There's no changing your opinion nor mine and the rules aren't changing on Rage/Lock so just hold out for the new server :)

Indeed, I am, I quit Lockjaw over two months ago, since I saw the writing on the wall for the current nonsense back then.
