Currently trying to farm: ~25 pyrilen flames, gelidran ices, essences of discord (not that bad) and lightning cores...and it's about as fun as it sounds. Suffer as I have suffered! :)

If you're on Drinal shoot me a tell might have some spare oow stones, though.

Loving the changes on test. A real shot in the arm for those putting the effort in to raise their tradeskills to 350. Frankly, with the absence in EoK of anything to actually make with our new found higher skills, something like this was needed as justification of the AA cost and effort involved. No more watching your Prize creep up 1ac at a time.

I also sincerely hope they keep the new formula at 7 skill points per % increase. This now means that to max the prize you have to gain 420 points past the old caps. Before, the class/race combo's that had access to specialised tradeskills (alchemy, poison, tinkering) had a slightly unfair advantage, in that they had more leeway in gaining the requisite 450 skill points. These changes at least level the playing field a bit for those of us with access to just the 9 base skills.
  3. smash Augur

They actually now got an even bigger advantage.

Before they could go advance each TS up to 40, and be maxxed. Now they need around 38.
To make it more fair, they should go around and make so that the alchemy, poison making, and tinker dont Count for the aug.

YEAH I remember the flames and Rifstinkers.... wish I was on Drinal but alas I am not :(
  5. yepmetoo Abazzagorath

You don't need just about any of those to max out those skills.

There are plenty of smithing/tailoring recipes to not need more than a couple (do anything other than the 1 piece recipes is a waste), and the other things are just faster.

For tailoring too, keep in mind that they fixed the torment drops from the horrors, any of them can drop the bloods, so all that tailoring is doable now as well, so shouldn't need a single gelidran ice.

Research, how many combines is needed for each skill level increase?

Also are there difference between arch types?

I mean, I think casters can do more different than melee/hybrid?
  7. Aanuvane Augur

I believe its ~53 recipes per skill point and all recipes are available to all classes now. Hybrids, Priests and Melee can even do the binding Powder route IF you can find an INT caster to make you the essences.

As a priest class, I started from the lowest trivial and worked my way up (to save plat on the solutions) and managed to get to 350 just a few combines into the "papers" (rough paper, paper, fine paper, etc.) but I did do all the basic items (inks, thickeners, solutions, quills, binding powders, etc.) and did all the tomes at the relevant levels as I went up to get there. I might have also had a smattering of recipes above papers where I've done misc combines for people in the past, so it might take you a little farther into the papers to get all the way to 350.

So can hybrid make caster spells, as an example. Just everything possible?

    Never read about that.

Curious, what is the price for paper combines?
  9. Aanuvane Augur

Back in the June 15, 2016 patch, they made it so all classes could make all combines.

Most of the raw "paper" type materials - Spell Tablets, Papyrus, Paper, Spell Scrolls, Parchments, etc. are ~ 1pp each (some are cheaper) if you find them on vendors or free if you farm them. The solutions to refine them vary in price as you move up spell/tome level AND vary based on how many subcombines you're willing to do to make them :) You can buy most of the solutions ready made (except for Orphic Cards and Sortilege Sheets) Crude Spell Scroll Solution is ~32pp from a vendor and Fine Runic Numen Plaque is ~1627pp (the two ends of the spectrum after hides). If you're willing to do ALL the subcombines (farming all the Saltpeter and Crystallized Sulfur) you can make those solutions yourself for 10pp and 563pp respectively.

No discussion on price here, but this might help if you're a neophyte researcher

Research is painful and expensive imho.

Any tips for smithing? Probably not the best one to start out on but this has been painful. I have read through all the pages here and maybe I missed something. 6 points so far after two nights. Currently farming POP zones to make farwater and hurricane armor with the hopes that these will actually raise it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
  12. Orbital101 Augur

Smithing is one of the hardest farming wise, specially if you start with PoP armors but no matter where you start you still have to go through most of pop. The biggest gain in smithing/tailoring are the Ldon armors.

If you need a Incomplete list of stuffs to farm for smithing: Click here
(will eventually complete it and clean it up so that it is easier to understand)

For the skills that I didn't have an Adetia list to work off of, I used EQTraders "by skill, by expansion" list, and then went zone by zone (ponightmare can eat a large bag of dicks). One of the pluses to smith/tailor is a large chunk of the recipes is by 3-12 piece set, so it consolidates the farm list somewhat. If you're doing PoP I might almost do by zone for *all* skills, not just one. Pick a zone, live there, so all the smith tailor potter bake Jc recipes there, then move to the next one, etc.

What Good said about ldon smithing tho...there's 72 recipes per theme so ~350 recipes just for that exp alone. That's probably a dozen ish skillups right there.

Thanks guys I have been working on hero's journey off and on throughout the year and left off with LDON so I guess I will kill 2 birds with one stone. I might do something else to gain some confidence first then tackle BS. I have already set up a house designated just for mats to do skill ups for this. I appreciate all the info and help.

Looking for some poison making help...i made a spreadsheet based on the eqtraders quick trivial list, added multiple recipes for the same item where its used, and went to work.
3388 existing recipes (didnt bother listing the multiple poisons using coffin's) and i have learned 3380 recipes with just 8 left to make, but my skill is only at 340...what am i missing that isnt listed on eqtraders?
  16. Qbert Gallifreyan

I've just been working through the skills that are the least annoying (fishing, jewelcraft, fletching, pottery and baking done), and as I get to the more annoying ones I have gotten a lot of the random bits already queued up.

Note: I have saved tradeskill supplies forever, so my hording has paid off in this regard and lessened my farming dramatically.
  17. Orbital101 Augur

Lots of recipes for poison as 2 to 5 different ways of making them. You sure you did them all? Its often the mistake people does.
  18. bazinga Elder

I have accounted for those recipes. There must be a entire chunk of recipes that are not listed since it accounts for 10 skillup points.
  19. Aanuvane Augur

I haven't done it, but you might want to check your list again? By my reckoning, I get a total of 3,758 poison recipes in EQTC. 2835 are all related to the Omens of War augments that should be auto-learned, 243 appear to be no fail in the coffin bottle only and 15 are related to trophies/bags, but my base count is higher than yours? The Quick Trivial list can sometimes leave things out, which is why I created the complete lists. You might try cross referencing that?
  20. bazinga Elder

That was it...the multiple quantity of the various poison extracts using privit, laburnum, etc. I never tryed making 2 at a time before, which added at least 100 new recipes (if not more)...now to revamp my spreadsheet and get that 350
