I have intel(R) HD Graphics and Microsoft basic render get error

I have intel(R) HD Graphics and Microsoft basic render, says don't support Direct X feature 11_0 eq always ran on anything I just renewed my sub been a player for many years and cant log in. Is there a fix? To put it back like it was?

EQ should run on this given the graphics as I remember them as late as about about the time the merc points talents came into being.

IT says GPU. Is there any file download or something to make it run on my system as it is or a alt download or means of launching? Is there a patch? This has never happened.

I am going to need a new graphics card?
  4. Nennius Curmudgeon

Do you have a video card on your computer? My understanding is that HD graphics are part of the motherboard. In any case, the answer is almost certainly yes.

You can get the system requirements from that link, but the important bit is that your system supports Direct3D feature set 11_1. It's been this way since January so it sounds like you've been away from the game for awhile. And DirectX 11 is not exactly new either (October 2009), so while there are some on-board graphics solutions (Intel HD Graphics) that will work, you won't be able to run it on a system that is more than 15 years old and hasn't been upgraded. So no, EQ does not "run on anything" and players will need to periodically update their system to keep pace.

Give us more information about your CPU, specifically what exact one do you have? Also, what version of Windows are you running on that system? If you do have to buy a graphics card it hardly needs to be new. You could get as much as a 15 or so year old card and it will probably work fine. Just check the manufacture's page to be sure before you buy a used one.
Not really, it is equally likely depending on the age of the system and if or when it was updated that the system might not have DX11 on it.
It is more like 17 or 18 years old, or 20 if it was really high end when they got it. DX11 worked on older hardware fine, just needed driver updates which Windows handles easily with 8 or 10. Windows 7 it probably would as well since this is an intel driver, but it isn't going to be automatic.

Your GPU: Even though it supports DirectX 11, the feature level is only 10_1, which can be problematic with many DirectX 11 & DirectX 12 titles. (From: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/hd-graphics-2000.c1248)

EQ now requires: Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti / AMD Radeon HD 7970, hardware feature level 11_0 or greater (From: https://www.everquest.com/news/eq-directx11-api-port-live)

Unfortunately you'll need to upgrade. I don't think you can add a GPU to an OptiPlex system, but you can pick up a newer OptiPlex pretty cheap and just move your EQ dir to the new system.

Are you sure there is not a legacy workaround or that it dose not take a card? maybe ? A patch? Alternatively download launcher? Aproved bypass, what about the old escape to Norrath, thing I seem to remember vaguely years ago. I dont want to miss to much of the anniversary in shipping?
  10. Questoften32 Augur

edit: that involved some fix after patch but I barely recall that. windows 7 or 8 directx?

There IS a workaround, provided by Microsoft itself, but the downside is that performance will go from "not that good" to "horribly bad". You will have to settle for lowering all graphics option to a minimum probably.

    From another post:

    • Open a PowerShell window (right click on the Start menu from windows, then Run PowerShell (Admin))
    • On the PowerShell window, enter the following:
      DISM /online /add-capability /capabilityname:tools.graphics.directx~~~~0.0.1.0
    • Once the download finishes, go to Run>DXCPL
    • Choose "Edit List" and search for your game directory. Add eggame.exe to the list, and Apply the chages. (Maybe Everquest.exe too?)
    • Get back to the main menu. On "Device Settings" at the bottom pick DX 11_1 for the version. Make sure "Force Warp" is selected. Everything else should be disabled or remain untouched probably.
Once all that is done, you should be able to start the game as usual. The plus side is that this method might bypass all the resolution bugs they introduced on last patch.
  15. Wulfhere Augur

This means your GPU does not support DX11 and you'll have to upgrade that to run EQ.
  16. Questoften32 Augur

thanks hope this works will have missed 7 days of the anniversary already....follow instructions exactly as written?
  17. CatsPaws Just getting rid of the old

Don't want to pop your bubble but it might help to relieve some stress to know that the 25th Anniversary is long gone, as of April.

But there is the Anniversary Tower that will be here year long. So no hurry on that.
