How rare are beta tokens for Yeti illusion?

I am interested in the Yeti beta reward. How rare are tokens? Do mobs randomly drop it? Do tradeskill combines summon it? Are test events announced on beta forums? Do you get beta tokens by posting feedback? Is it difficult to get tokens if devs have moved beyond EoK starting zones?

Mobs do not drop them. You cannot get them from making TS items. You get them from doing tasks, quests, missions, raids.

I believe the developers want players to actually go out and test things instead of killing 500 random mobs or spending three hours in the craft halls doing one combine ad nauseum...

No token rewards from raids at this time. At least according to Old Man.

They are awarded by the dev, at their discretion, if you have been asked to test with them. If you test raids on your own, there is no mechanism to award you any.

They are also not seen by the player really anymore in most cases.

The beta tokens are awarded via achievements, you can preview the reward for completing them and see the tokens there. You'll need to do Mercenary tasks, Partisan tasks, Hero missions, and the expansion Explorer. The achievements for Hunter and Collections do not reward tokens. Raids also don't generate beta tokens; Devs hand them out if you're specifically testing an event for them while they are present.

The tokens are supposed to automatically consume themselves to add to your account's total, so you probably won't see them even after you've earned them. But you can verify how many you've collected so far by checking with Old Man Thorren, using the phrase "beta tokens."
