I heard there was a mechanic in the game that allowed people of lower levels to hang out with the higher ups and have their level scaled to theirs... How is this system working out? can someone of level 85ish use this to level up and gain gear as he is leveling?

Higher levels can Shroud "down" to play with a lower level character. Is that what you are talking about maybe? What you used to be able to do was take a high level toon - say 100 and have him shroud as a toon as a lower level so the two could play together and the lower level (5-70) would still get xp.
