Help an aspiring tailor.

    Hi all,
I'm returning from VERY long ago, and a TLP server seemed like my thing. I recall having fun with tailoring, but can't find an online resource or an in-game one that tells me the *very* basics.

On-line things seem to assume I start at level 55 in tailoring? How can that be?

I need something that tells me what to buy and how to get started. Perhaps I'm just dense.

I think my confusion is in sorting out what sites tell me about TLP vs non-TLP? What's the best site/wiki/whatever for TLP EQ?

    Be gentle with the newbie,

Wait until DoN or later, so can use the TS changes with that expansion.

On Live servers, you have access to tradeskill tasks/quests that will quickly (like, a matter of minutes) get you to a skill of 54 in all tradeskills. But, you won't have access to those types of tasks for a while on TLP servers, so that's probably what you're seeing.

to 26: Make patchwork armor you can buy ruined wolf/cat/bear hides at newbie zone vendors, there' usually a lot.
to 36: Raw silk armor, you need spider silk, easily farmed in upper guk or east commons or purchased for between 5g-1p each
to 41: Make leather padding, thats a LQ pelt and a silk thread(from spiderlink silk)
to 66 If you have platinum to burn, you can 'shortcut" by making "Woven Mandrake", mandrake rootx2, all vendor bought, don't sell those.
to 76 Then make picnic baskets with a woven mandrake and steel boning(smithing, low skill needed)
to 82 Cured Silk Armor (requires heady kiolas)
to 88: 10-slot backpacks HQ Bear Pelt, Backpack pattern
to 108 Reinforced Armor: Requires a HQ Pelt(don't use cat pelts) and steel boning
to 115: Tailored Quicer: HQ Cat Pelt, Quiver Pattern
Beyond 115: Wu's armor (need vial of vicious mana too, this calls for an enchanter)

At the bottom of the EQTC Learn Tailoring (modern) guide you'll find old school links.

Thank you SO much for posting this. People kept sending me to eqtraders.com, and while it is a lovely site for live servers, it lists NPcs who don't exist in my era, etc, all mixed in with things that do exist, and there is no way to distinguish them except to waste travel time looking (since when I ask questions people tend to answer with ... a link to eqtraders, com. XD).

I had no idea this site existed and have now bookmarked it.

EDIT: Whoop, spoke before looking closely at the content in the link, which sends you immediately to the Plane of Knowledge. The leveling zone guides are good though!

Yes after Luclin opens you get Greyhopper armor to 96.

So EQTraders is not perfect. but it also does have many TLP only recipes and are flagged as such.

    Particularly for jewlecraft.

Be aware EQProgression.com is a great site but it does not have all recipes not even for TLP's but it does tend to have the most common leveling paths for each tradeskill.

Eqtraders has alot of info. If your serious about tailoring (especially if you wanna stay past pop), ignore the advice to wait until tss.
Theres ALOT of velious tailoring stuff that you can get in era, but is a total PITA later on.

The nice thing about eqtraders is all the info it has. The specific guides tend to have one path that EVERYONE takes, so that stuff is always expensive. On eqtraders you can find/create alternate paths for yourself that use items which might be plentiful and cheap because they are not on the popular path.
