Please return to us when you have come up with a less awful plan. You've made changes to previous TLPs after announcement - do it here. Don't waste the GM monitoring on awful rulesets. Stop the PoP locked on both servers, no one wants them.

Plenty of people want them.....just not you. Thankfully you are not important as an individual.

look in the mirror, neither are you, any many more doesn't want pop-lock and those that do already HAVE a server they can go to, that cater to their needs

there were people who wanted mangler to keep the crappy exp rate too. Hopefully darkpaw pulls through again

For a game with 26 expansions and rich in content ,are u going to tell me u going to launch for now on seasonal servers with only first 6 expansions? Can you explain me why? Do not tell me that the first 6 expansion of this games is all this game has to offer or that the first 6 expansion are the most fun expansions because players have different taste in what expansions are best.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa! There is no need for name calling here...

I mean, is he a moron? Clearly yes... But that is no reason to call him one.

I've read a lot of these threads and while the forums are a minority, they are a reflection of the masses. Very few are excited for the PoP-locked decision. It's basically you, Xeris, and like 3 or 4 other people who have had any sort of positive reaction.

However, the negative reactions have been? Can't even put a number on it. But if I had to wager a guess it's a couple hundred.

So by comparison statistically I can pretty safely make the assumption that a small percentage maybe 10% of the TLP community is excited and the other 90% think this decision is a hot dumpster fire.

Again, this is reflected in how your comment has 0 likes, and Noreaster has multiple.

I'm sure you'll have some very intelligent rebuttal, I'll wait.

TLP servers mostly die after PoP anyways. By locking the server there, they are forcing players off them even faster, and onto new TLPs.

DBG is good at one thing, and one thing only: leveraging their old excellent content to continue making money from it.

Don't forget that and you won't be surprised with their poor decisions.

I agree. Past PoP there is more instancing and the need for GM monitoring will be eliminated. Why have GMs committed to a locked server indefinitely?
  12. Xeris Augur

Nah I'm not excited for pop lock for the new servers, I was/still am excited about Agnarr. I want oow lock D:

I know you are trying really hard to throw the biggest tantrum you can, but the reality is Agnarr was tremendously popular and this server will be no different. The other unlocked TLP's are an easy example of how sucessful unlocked servers are.....(lol theu aren't).
  14. Zinth Augur

ALL the serveres were "tremendously popular" in the beginning but people found out what pop-lock REALLY means and that should on the server today where as Phinny is much more lively than Agnarr (and not pop-locked) I wonder why...

DPG forums determined...that was a lie.

How does an expansion lock 12 months in the future relate to launch popularity? All TLPs are popular at launch, they could spin one up that deletes a random piece of your gear every 24 hours and people would still play it from classic to PoP.

Surely if PoP-locking actually had a noticeable impact then Agnarr would still be very popular now, no?

Rofl, Phinny is a fricken ghost town......P99 servers have more people. Great example, too funny.
  18. Xeris Augur

What TLP remained "very popular" 3 years after its launch? None. In fact, you can just look at Agnarr now and Agnarr 6 months ago to see the value of it -- the server population has almost doubled recently. Agnarr is unique because it will ALWAYS appeal to people that prefer the POP era, and this represents a lot of people that plays TLP.

    - People like POP era
    - People like restarting in classic because of the freshness factor and other things

There's a reason why TLP populations decrease dramatically after POP, and there's a reason why people keep coming back to Agnarr, and rolling fresh characters there. My guild has literally recruited >200 people since January, and many of them are new to the server. So, it really depends on what your definition of "very popular" is. No TLP will have thousands of players running around Guk and leveling new characters after 3 years. After 3 years, TLP's will be pretty niche. The main thing to consider is how popular Agnarr was in its progression run compared to other TLPs. Considering they are releasing two new servers with this ruleset, the internal conclusion must have been that Agnarr was pretty damn popular.

You can look at the forums all you want, but the forums makes up only a fraction of the playerbase, and may not be representative of what players want. The only ones who actually know what the playerbase wants is Darkpaw... because they're the only ones with access to the entire playerbase and other internal data (sales, sub numbers, server populations, etc). Everything else people are doing on the forums is guesswork. No amount of "everyone I've talked to thinks POP lock is bad" is going to change that.

A good part of the reason Agnarr lost population was two reasons:

    1. Daybreak moved it out of the "Preferred Server" list on the server select screen, thus ensuring new players didn't go there.

    2. Mangler was released. Never having been there, I'm curious, how is Mangler doing?

I was on Phinny. Got my SK up to 60 before the guild imploded and that was right before Agnarr came out so I just restarted on Agnarr. But Phinny was a decent server. It should have been, since the earlier TLPs all had major problems with botters and mage armies
