I've had this problem for as long as I can remember and am just now wanting to see if its solvable by the community. I've had this with various computers and multiple versions of DX and graphics cards. Everytime I quit eq for the night my graphics will be slightly screwed up in any other game or video online that I play. It almost is like a gamma correction issue but for video games it causes graphics to become grainy and brighter. Is there something I can do to prevent this? The solution I have for now that I've always used is to simply restart my computer.
EQ is notorious for not returning your computer's gamma to default after you quit - particularly if you run more than one account. There was a "fix" earlier this year but it was sloppy and doesn't work right most of the time. I'd suggest going into your .INI file and removing the "gamma=" line. You'll have to play EQ at whatever you're screen is set to but at least you won't have to keep restarting.
