Gilded Hammer of Ro's Light - Proc

Maybe you didn't do any faction groups back in the day then. It's not about DPS, it's about having tapped each mob once so the big'ol AoE classes can kill them. Feels weak? Yep! But it's better than having to manually cycle through each mob and have to hit them all once.

I agree though that the actual proc itself is kind of worthless as DPS. Procs in general just suck now relative to everything else. They're just aggro generators for virtually no gain.

Why not look at this as pertains to casters and not just melee?

As a wizard, the sympathetic fire proc IS the best fire proc out there (the only other one comes from chelsith (which I own) and has group stats not raid stats). That being said, I usually favor a 1 hander/shield for AC over a stat driven 2hb...but a major fire proc would make me consider this seriously.

In some senses this might be more caster geared than melee.

Got mine the other night, love the versatility on the weapon! But... any chance we could see a dmg increase on the proc? Im getting 1,400ish dmg procs with twinproc, but the rate that it fires is wayyy to low. So either up the chance of procs or dmg, just a thought!

While I do appreciate being able to have more AoE abilities....one where I can't decide when to use it is not making me a happy camper. Pulling aggro on new mobs that spawn in raids from random procs, not being able to use the thing on fights where any mezzing is occurring. I learn from my mistakes and use my older weapon in these situations, but I would like to be able to use my item all the time.

Is there any chance of having this proc changed to be a single target fire proc? Or something else, at least remove the threat associated with it because I legitimately can't use it during the new raid, at least not during the Lanys part.

you really didnt have an idea of any sorts its value its use etc when you bought it did you? the moment you speak of raid use on this tells me that. We finally get a aoe wep of usefullness for the first time in i dont know HOW long and then I see a post like that. it saddens me.

    Just stop.

I looted this as a warrior because we have an AA, Rage of Rallos, that allows us to proc on every swing. If I ever needed to kill packs of low level mobs, this would be nice. Considering they give us ~1 AOE weapon a decade, I see this as a solid long term item. Hence, it's considered a rare item.

Something which I wonder if others can confirm/deny, does Girdle of the Weaponsmaster increase the power of the AOE on Ro hammer?
  6. Naugrin Augur

2 hander will provide you with better defense than sword and board due to staff block btw.

    You're right---it's terrible. 29 second fight.

    /tell badlord badlord -vs- Combined: push over raid: -- DMG: 2835951 -- DPS: 97791 -- Scaled: 97791 -- DirDmg: 1734347 -- Crush: 571199 -- Punch: 345880 -- Hit: 152726 -- DoT: 28000 -- Kick: 3799 -- % dmg as normal: 39.9% -- % dmg as critical: 60.1% -- Non-crit rate: 65.5% -- crit rate: 34.5% -- Attempts: 646 -- Hits: 615 -- Missed: 31 -- Accuracy: 95.2% -- Avg Hit: 4611 -- Max hit: 53567 -- DMG to PC: 0

That would include 4 carbomates, 1 lance, 2 maelstroms and 1 bite. Best...and I mean BEST case scenario the carbomates would get you maybe 130k ish damage, the lance 35-40 kish, the maelstrom 200K MAX and the bite maybe 35-40 ish. So grand total on that fight from spells...410k in 29 seconds taking account for lag interrupts, and the usual raid woes , give or take.

So ya, it's terrible. The proc should be doubled.

Also, sympathetic Blazing Pillar instead of Strike of Flames :)

I 100% agree that this weapon is useless and needs to be changed to a higher drop rate as I don't have 1 yet.....

I would imagine there aren't too many people that can confirm/deny this...but I have both items on my ranger on Test. I will check and let you know the next time I load her up!

It's important not to break mezzes in an expansion without any need to mez things

Weapon proc damage will not be going up (significantly) any time soon, unless dev thought process changes on the subject.
  14. Edrick Augur

I get Chandrok's reasoning. He doesn't want you to gain significant dps simply by autoattacking. I'm doing a terrible job at paraphrasing what he said, but that is why we don't see big procs.

I think that takes away flavor from weapons though, especially in an age where weapon delay is becoming standardized. I would love to see weapons brought back that had gigantic procs, at the expense of weapon ratio. Such as a new Ghoulbane, that has weapon ratio of two expansions old, but procs a large undead DD. Or a weapon similar to a sceptre of destruction/salindrite dagger, again with a decent DD at the expense of ratio.

I dunno the ratio on this weapon compared to others in t1/t2 is wayyy lower, so the only reason for using this is for the AE proc. Really should up the proc dmg on it, I mean it is a Rare, so the folks that blew lots of DKP or saved 360 coins for it should be compensated just a tad! Please!! :)
  16. Stubar Augur

I think my point got missed. The proc did roughly 1300000 (give or take) damage in 29 seconds. The proc is fine.
  17. Triconix Augur

No way on God's green Earth did the proc alone do 44k dps. You are heavily miscalculating something. In order to do that much dps - even if it crits 100% (for me a crit does 1500 damage) of the time - it would have to proc 866 times or 30 times per second. So, in reality, we are speaking roughly 1200-1300 procs within 29 seconds for a total of 40-41 procs per second? Yeah....no.
  18. Stubar Augur

You do know that as a beastlord I can do more with that that you can right??? With spell damage augs , and AA I crit that sucker for 4620. As well, I have bloodlust that enables me to proc every swing, RF and Spririt frenzy that make the delay MUCH less AND with intensity running it procs for 6020 almost every swing...so ya. Thanks for that.

Anyone that has read any of my posts about dps know that I post only hard viable numbers. Shooting from the hip and making a post without researching can make you look like an idiot.

It's not itemized for casters, really.

I can't think of any scenario where having fire resist check proc is more advantageous than cold/disease/magic/poison resist check. The proc isnt focused by your arms or hat or bp or gloves, nor does it gain any damage from furies. The only advantage of a different resist check for caster procs is..............the resist check. AKA all of the normal resist checks are hardly ever resisted with raid debuffs or in group content, corruption gets resisted all the time in both circumstances.

    Also, better fire proc http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=117796

You'll take less melee damage with a 2hander equipped, staff block >>>>>>> shield block (assuming youre max aa).

It's a piece of crap for casters, the tier 1 raid wep has a better proc more hint and more mana.
  20. Brohg Augur

Fire procs are preferential specifically for wizards because of the Fury of Ro self buff which is up half the time, adding 2k to fire damages.
