Game needs better mob types and variety

We're level 125 epic adventurers that have been to the literal land of the gods and pushed their stuff in. Why are we still fighting rats, bats, spiders, snakes, frogs and beetles as if we were still in Qeynos Hills or GFay newbie areas? I get the desire to recycle assets and use the same models and animations that have been around for ages, but maybe we could focus on mob types that are commiserate with the level of the adventurer.

I agree. There's a lot of cool mob types that are hardly ever used. Typical newbie yard mob types are unremarkable.

I'm reminded of one of The Noob comics that showed all the different sized and lvl's of rats ;) Tried to find it to post here but failed.

All types of mobs had already been included and defeated, including gods. There is nothing that could top that further. The mobs do have to fit to the zone themes.

What, you don't like fighting rats that are stronger than an entire pantheon of gods?

So maybe the zone themes should be done to facilitate a better variety of mobs.

Blame Rodcet Nife as the creator of (all ?) rodents.

I just tried to find it but could not. Somewhere out there is an old web comic episode that shows all the different types of rats and their names, for an imaginary MMORPG :)

    Rodent Nife?
I have questions for those paladins from qeynos

Yeah, basically it's even Rodent Knife. :) It is a qeynosian rat/rodent cult. SOE server hamsters maybe ? Scruffy ? Diseased rats/rodents are however under the influence of Bert, the plague bringer.

Rodcet Nife is an anagram for rodent feci = I made rodents.

rodentia (lat. verb or noun) / rodens (lat. verb) -> rodent (engl. noun)
    feci (lat. verb)

It's an anagram, yes, but just by coincidence. Verant got Rodcet Nife from "Docter Fine" (misspelling intentional,) which is one of their goofier deity name anagrams.

I heard about that other anagram (Docter Fine), but it never made sense to me, which is why I started searching for other matches. Why should Docter Fine / Fine Docter had been misspelled intentionally ?

I missed the old necro pets which increased in size and varied in color.
At least with the many available illusions you can convert that old spec into something more interesting.

Would be interesting if they did revamp all the overused mobs so that there was variation in size and color as they went up in level ranges. Like those tiny newb rodents/rats vs something the size of a lion.

I agree. We sure have a lot of vanity pets that are reskinned these days. It's a shame that the resources used to create them could be put into actual mobs. I'd like to see some more birds in Norrath,.

Honestly this is an issue with a bunch MMOs.

For some reason developers always think. To start the story, lets start with rats and what not.
They also think, lets have rusty armor, slightly less rusty, even slighter less rusty, rusty rusty, good.

They spend soooo much time making gabage then they make 1 good armor. Why not just make all good looking and the best is the best looking, why spend 80% of your time making tattered clothes even slighter less tattered clothes. Why?

    No. Wake up.
    Remember GoD?
only in caves/sewers you'd find those rats. Makes sense.
Other than that, you see cragbeasts, these nocs and what not, these funky looking scary type alienlike creatures.

GoD was a good expansion, timing was just wrong and WoW was better, its not because EQ2 or whatever, it was because more modern gameplay.
EQ is still this clunky reliant on groups. Since there is no groups, you are reliant on boxing.
Still clunky since 1999. WoW transitioned into more modern gameplay, there was a transition in 2004 from 1999 games. There has been a lot of transitions since.

Old content should not be touched, as there were already to many of those experiments, which turned out bad. Even for new expansions it is not logical, because where should the size increase end ? It would mean bigger mobs with each new expansion. Revamping the necro pets to their original state would be nice for the nostalgia. It also made sense, and most pets do still work like that, by growing with higher level spells, but not overgrowing.
