Fixed Full Screen / Screen Resolution Issues

rearranged the UI on one of my chars, while playing in windowed mode.

logged off, went back in, and my UI-resolutions were saved (win11, 1920*1080). I keep my fingers crossed it stays like that...

question: was there a patch-hotfix today? (Jul 18).

Yes I think it did fix the windowed UI issue and the device reset error but did not fix the full screen resolution problems.

Windows 11 and on a windows 7 can't switch to full screen still get device reset. earlier today I logged in on windows 10 comp and was able to go full screen and have not logged out to try again. The disable fullscreen optimization tip doesn't work

Guess the suggestion or hot patch doesn't work for everyone

I didn't have the reset issue yesterday that what is so odd. Windowed it is for now on those toons

The hot fix did not work. Same issues as yesterday and today with full screen not working properly. I can tinker with it for a while and make it work but not happy that I have to do this every time I log in. Looks like my choices are to play windowed, tinker with each account every time I log in, or just stay permanently logged in.

Can't get into fullscreen mode still after hotfix to even test this on 2 of 3 computers only one I can get to fullscreen it still will not save and all issues persist on next log in

Also still cannot alt+tab to another process.; EQ forces itself to the front and if I even click on another app, EQ throws itself into full screen mode. This did NOT happen prior to this patch.
Also the screwed up graphics for armors are back. At least that worked for a month before getting (re)broken.

They must have deleted that post because I can't find it anymore anywhere. But I'm sure it still applies.

It's in the player to player support section of the official EQ Discord server. Figured I'd post it here for those that don't typically hop over and look there.

I have figured out a solution (at least for me) to temporarily fix the EQ screen resolution issues.

After fixing the resolution and layout to be where you want them, open the folder where your EverQuest directory is located, right click the EQclient.ini file, and tick the 'read only' box. (apply and close).

The downside is once you do that you can't change any options permanently until you untick the read only box, apply, and hit OK.

Same for me. I got the resolution issues. So I logged out and now I can not get back in. Only the Error 1017...

I can confirm that running the launcher does not change the EQclient.ini file.
I can also confirm that when the launcher executes EQgame.exe the game client executable changes the EQclient.ini video settings to 800x600 (in my case).

I tried setting EQclient.ini as READ ONLY and that seems to have temporarily solved the issue for now.

I noticed on launching this evening that the launcher had patched a few files.

I changed the READ ONLY status on EQclient.ini and ran the game. (I had made a backup of the .ini before trying things.)

Unfortunately... Same results. Copied backup .ini back and set it to READ ONLY.

I have done the suggestions and I am in fs mode when I log out slow mode hitting all the correct buttons. It does not save. I did this initially on both comps and again yesterday. If /camp desk is different than using the game provided camp exit button, please let me and others know not to use that. The game provided button should work? I am getting the same result it still reverts back.

Absorbing everything ... changing the file to read-only is dicey if they do a patch or update behind the scenes there is a chance something can get missed. Not everyone understands how to do and un-do a file to read-only safely and which ones can be done. Things get forgotten it happens.

As to the post from another forum ... I would like to see that posted here. Too many forums, not everyone looks multiple places for information but thank you for that information.

As to the content ... not everyone plays in windowed mode. Windowed and FS are very different settings/looks. In a conversation with Cair at one time, I was asked if I had stretched my screen to emulate FS and perhaps that was part of my problem (it was not). This also can create problems. Just throwing that out there.

So the issue is not the saving of the resolution, I'm pretty sure that works. The issue is that when you start the game back up, it does not start in fullscreen mode, even if you exited in fullscreen mode last time.

If the last time I logged in I was in fullscreen mode, the next time I start the game it starts in windowed mode, and in 800x600 windowed mode, a very small window. Which for whatever reason also resets the fullscreen resolution.

I really don’t want to fix my resolution and UI every time I want to play. We should get the option to pause our subscription until the next patch when this is fixed.
