FTE is amazing. Its so nice not having your mobs stolen by a 6 box

Is the six box in the room with us right now?

It's kind of hilarious to hear people going "see, FTE is no biggie, nobody is KSing my orc centurions!" as if that was the actual issue.

Wait until you get to endgame dungeons with krono-worthy items on the line, and anyone can just show up and start contesting named spawns. Nobody's going to make a concerted effort to KS random xp mobs at level 27, there's no real incentive, but come back when you've had frenzied ghoul stolen from your group three times in a day by some random loner, and there was nothing you could do about it, and tell us how amazing it is.

    Yupper!
Wait until week # 1 is over and these same people are complaining they cannot get any of the preplanes top tier gear.

I'm reserving judgement and waiting until I see what happens at higher levels before deciding what I think about FTE, but from my experience yesterday people ARE making efforts to KS random xp mobs with insta-tags even at low levels. FTE is NOT stopping that. After you engage, sure, you can relax, but until then... nope. There's plenty of real incentive... they don't have to find their own mobs when they can just roll up and take yours.

I was camping at level 4 at a kobold camp in Steamfont. I had the camp totally cleared, and the next kobold would pop shortly before I finished killing the previous one. A boxer with their army of autofollowing chars in tow walked into the camp and started insta-tagging stuff as it became available to attack and there was no recourse, even if a group could outdps them. Yes, it's only level 4 trash, so not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things (beyond my rising blood pressure) and moving somewhere else is a solution, but don't underestimate people's ability to be total jerks at low levels too.

FTE is a sad attempt to stop power leveling and DPS racing.

The really sad part is that there are workarounds that have already been discovered.

So at the end of the day it's just another classic TLP.

Enjoy killing 100000000 frogloks for the 100000000000000000000th time.

I'm level 40 and have overall thought it was an excellent improvement so far. Really need to fix the chanter pet stuff.

Why do you think it was an attempt to stop power leveling when they have said what it was for which is kill stealing?

I feel like the logic is "We are preventing as much of it as we can reasonably manage". Which it is doing. It's also stopping deliberate grief trains, which is a big improvement in Unrest and Blackburrow where trains can get messy fast and hard.

So walking into someones camp and tagging their mob to steal it isn't KS'n?

    This only stops DPS races.

People can still waltz in and take over camps, it's just different.
  11. Waring_McMarrin Augur

And it has been suggested many times in the past the first to tag is what matter and people have been reported getting action taken against for killing things that they have been camping but someone else tagged first.

Just because some accepted a DPS race doesn't mean that is how Daybreak wants it to be like that.

I stopped playing on Mischief because of the Multiboxers stealing mobs. SOOO many times, a bard + 5 monks would fly into our camp and kill the named in seconds.
Mischiefs randomized loot + Oakwynds encounter locking would be the perfect server for me.

In my experience first thought was this is kinda chill...but after playing last night in Sol A there were 3 occasions where I had mobs in camp and was unable to tag a fresh spawned named. In these cases a monk ran past us with a 2-3 mob train to get first tag and drag it away. Zero i could do about it. This is exactly the issue i expected to happen. Those that are using cheats will reign supreme under encounter locking and actively be able to run the zone pulling named with their notifications of named spawns.

Before i could just contest it with a tash or stun, now its just watching painfully as it runs away. Although this isnt the end of the world and some game play adjustments can be made to hold the spot(sitting on top of spawn) i find this to be pretty annoying and NOT an improvement on prior systems.

Not having to worry about trains may be a fair trade.... will have to see how it plays out. For me I was more worried about my reckless pulls training others hehe.

So let me get this square in my head since I've not played there yet. Mobs spawn into the world and stay locked briefly first right? So people have time to spot mobs spawning in and with likely a combo of low ping and "monk tracking" can tag and train named away safely with no danger of anyone being able to do anything? Also, there's not much if any training going on at all from what I've been told?

Easy cause the derv don't recognize camps. Under their rules KS'n just means taking a mob someone else has already engaged. They don't consider taking a mob that not being engaged to be KS'n

TBH, I've heard "Camps don't exist" more on this TLP than I ever have. Unrest is split into 3 factions. The yard, the porch, and the MR. Everyone is taking all of the mobs, there is no camp differentiation. All FTE did was kill the idea of a camp and blur the lines making it a FFA. Playing currently is the most disorganized example of EQ I've ever seen and it wrecks efficiency. Everyone is feeling the hurt, I've heard nothing but complaints about the experience rate. It's not because of the experience, it's because efficiency is out the window and it's a completely different game. This fundamentally changes the game, I see both sides, but at what point does it become an unacceptable shadow of what the game was and becomes something entirely different.

Then you missed Selos, Aradune, Mischief, and Yelinak at launch.

Every time someone intentionally pulls a mob out from under your nose, that line got tossed around lol.

I've actually heard it less on Oakwynd in game, because with the exception of people deliberately going out of their way to screw with people, it is much easier to keep a tight hold on your camp on account of tagging.

Idk, maybe I've just been lucky enough to play at times when people feel like playing nice.
