Hello all, I would like some help with a strange bug. For some reason, my eastern freeport map looks incomplete. All i see in the zone is the ground, but holes where the buildings are. No water, nothing. I even run on the bottom, as it wont let me swim. Here is an image to help people understand what i mean - https://ibb.co/kakO6a Anyway, ive tried the autodownloader and so on, no help. Any help in fixing this would be appreciated. Going to PoSky is a severe pain in the behind. Thanks in advance, - Guy
The default maps in EQ are rife with problems. Your best bet is to use a 3rd party set of map files from a site such as Goods Maps. (Do a search either here or via your favorite internet search tool). When installing them, put them into a separate folder (i.e. maps/goodsmaps) to prevent the patcher from overwriting the files. You can then get to the maps via the dropdown menu on the maps window.
Looking at the screenshot I don't think he means the map itself. but that parts of the actual zone-geometry is missing. I spotted a similar problem in crypt of nadox near the entrance to the tunnel-system.
Jumbur is correct, what i mean is the actual terrain features are missing, not things on my map. On my screen as i move around in freeport, all i see is the ground and its bumps etc. No buildings, no trees, rocks, water, etc. all I see are holes in the ground where buildings should be, any NPCs, and the slope of the ground. Pretty much it. When i fall off from plane of sky, i dont land in water, i fall all the way down as if there is no water at all. Any suggestions anyone?
Sounds like missing/corrupted files. I believe the launcher should verify files, but maybe it doesn't? I would check Logs/dgb.txt or maybe just texture.txt? I know texture.txt generally has a lot of noise though :/
You verify files in the Launchpad. Click on the gear to the lower left, open the validate game menu choice, then click on validate files. This will replace any files that it finds that are corrupt, and any missing files. If you want the validator to replace the files, I would delete the zone file for Freeport, that way the validator will defiantly replace it.
