Focus effects?

I've now heard two conflicting statements from youtubers regarding whether focus will be enabled in classic. Anyone know of any statements about this from dpg?

    No focus effects until Luclin.

Name and shame the youtubers.
Skuz, Xhartor and Machen like this.

one of many things that weren't broken that have been fixed in the past few years. it will be like recent TLPs, not "previous TLPs". It was rightly left available in classic for many years.

    Ok. Thanks for the infoz

With all the randomized loot, RMT'ers need to be able to make big Krono on the focus effect items that won't work yet.
  6. Roean Journeyman

Only six months until they work instead of the usual nine, though.
  7. Numiko Augur

Classic 1 month, Kunark 2 months, Velious 2 months, that's 5 months to Luclin :)

5 months until you can use the best in slot focus items that will be good for 1 expansion. Woot.

Yeah that does not male any sense.

Casters are strong enough in classic/RoK/SoV to not even need focus effects anyway.
Casters on TLP still benefit from much better spell tables than they had originally, if these were reverted back to original values & the innate melee aa & other changes that boosted melee were reverted the game would be significantly more difficult.

This isn't just about casters. All the hybrid classes can use focus effects that give (small) int- or wis-based damage boosts in Classic+Kunark. It's not even the play balance that matters here, it's the trivialization of various quested items that were originally more fun to seek out because they gave you a little something you didn't have before. Another piece of the casual game that's simply been blown off because it isn't important to the racers.

I bet if they had actually thought about it when this clever idea of randomized loot was first floated, someone on the team might have actually said "well ok, we might as well relax some of the older "traditional" TLP restrictions because they won't really have any bearing on play anymore." It was only when launch was announced that some players spoke up and said "what about this?" and the answer was basically "it's too close to launch to consider changing it now."
