are you using the wiz - mana burn

I would drop the two boxes and add 2 more range dps toons to burn.
  2. Lianeb Augur

Non damage tanking could very well be your win. The SK is not only taking a beating from cacktiki but also the adds and then on top doing 5% of his output dmg to himself

People are going to roll their eyes but I really like this thread.

I haven't really seen any snarky comments or people saying to just "man-up" and get it done/learn your class or requests that OP to stop complaining (and he never did).

This is how I remember EQ forums from way back in the beginning. Someone asked a legitimate question and the community chimed in truly wanting to help and offer advice.

"We’ve tried a straight burn on the boss (just barely fall short on DPS before lock), killing all adds (DPS insufficient to keep up after burns are used up), and killing the first 2-3 adds but otherwise focusing on the boss. Even tried dropping the bard for a cleric merc"

"We have 99% of our relevant AA."

What you may consider relevant, may not be enough. From the sound out it your on the right path as you said you barely fall short on DPS before he locks.

1st I would look at each toon and see what DPS aa your missing and farm those.

2nd many group work better off of synergy. you group is well rounded but not the best for pushing to hit your max benefit. With raiding you see this a lot where group are made to max the DPS. your has a Bard that works well in any group (tank group / Caster group / Melee group ) that trouble is he can't sing all the songs at once so you have to decide is he going to focus on the casters (mage / Wiz) or on the melee (SK, Ranger) with this event I hope he singing songs that do the most for the caster as melee getting eaten fast. Playing with different song set up you can see a boost to your DPS is my point. Also the Shm is a very good healer but IMO is more of a melee group healer. a druid or cleric tend to work better in a caster group.. and before shimmy's get made I not saying they can't do it Just that the synergy works better for a shamy to be with melee.

3rd would be to get with a raider of the class you play and ask them for help. many out their if you ask will be willing to help.
Questions to find out about each class.

What spells set up do they run.
What burn do they use and when.

Often what you click and how you click and double your dps. It a matter of learning what stacks and what doesn't. Example I started playing a healer again after 5 years I got the upgraded spells and was doing OK . then I got in a group with 2 ppl that knew the class better then me and after a couple of close calls they asked me what spell I was using. 30 min later after switching my spells and the order I used them I went from fighting to keep ppl alive to having spare time waiting for them to take damage. Point being what had worked in the past had changed and so asking players for help made me a better healer. If the ppl your grouping with seek out help I sure they can find some way to become a bit better and that may give you the push you need.

4th is gear. you said "Almost 100% Conflagrant or EoK T2 Group gear. A few EoK chase items here or there. The SK (me) has a full set of the best tanking augs"

You may need to go farm Augs for your DPS classes. The extra stats from augs can help give you the extra push you need.

Short recap work on : AA, Gear , and spell set up and you should be able to burn the named down and get it on farm like you want.

Victory! Thank you for the help everyone. Dead in 50 seconds. Some of the suggestions that seem to make all the difference:

    1) Wizard wasn't using Mana Burn
    2) Bard was playing mana song and not focusing on DPS
    3) Ranger picked up a new raid weapon today and melee'd
    4) We went all out right from the get-go. Ignored all adds.

Much appreciate all the support in this thread. Onwards!

Odd @ the ranger, bow dps has always performed better than ranger melee for my groups.
  7. Lianeb Augur

The difference in Raid Melee weapons and group bow could be very significant.
Not sure if he has a group bow but did mention EoK chase melee weapons

Correct! Group bow (Conflagrant i think?) vs. Two EoK Chase melee weapons. Thank you again for the advice!

Glad this thread got made, finally gave me the confidence to give the mission a shot. 6 boxed a SK/Cleric/SHM/BRD/BST/Zerker, all in conflagrant minus the zerkers chase loot weapon. After wiping 5 times, usually getting it down between 37% and 50%. I took a break for the day and reworked my boxed burn set up's today.

What I found in my initial tries was that my zerker was dieing, and once that happend, any hope I had of burning through was lost. So I put my shaman in healing mode and had him main heal my Zerker. That seemed to do the trick as I just beat it a little bit ago.

I focused everything on my main burns and it showed on the DPS Graph. If I do proper secondary burns, I can probably increase my success rate even more.

Congrats on your win. :) Since you have a shaman and cleric I suggest you alliance the tank as that coupled with celestial regen, ancestral aid, sk epic, a group hot, lion and shaman recourses once in a while should be plenty (like super overkill) of group heals streaming in over the fight. That might make you able to push out some more dps and not be scared of the zerker splatting.
  12. Daedly Augur

It should have been active, but I didn't actually check k to make sure. The next time I am going to put shaman alliance on my SK, cleric alliance on my Zerker and then see if that will be enough to allow me to use Dicho on my zerker.
  13. Jumbur Improved Familiar

The cactus mission is one of the group encounters where wizard manaburn really can make a difference. For some reason people seem to think it is not worth the mana, or dismiss it as a raid only spell. :)

Grats on beating this mission. For posterity there is a lot of good info in this thread:

    https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq/index.php?threads/cactus-rethread.246531/page-16#post-3627806

To OP, you may want to keep an eye ln people's dps and if you see someone lagging, figure out what they can do to improve. You may just want to wait until you run into another roadblock if your group isnt excited about min maxing for the sake of improvement, but some people really love getting better.
  16. Brohg Augur

it's not a dps check. "ezmode" is dps check. any group of 6 players not asleep at the wheel can beat it the slow way by bopping the sprouts
  17. Millianna Augur

I don’t think DBG intended this event to be completed with purely with brute force dps. However, that’s what most do. Just my 2 cents, this mission was lazy design...
  18. Gundolin Augur

No idea on six boxing but generally on the cleric I pop 3rd spire, Cel Regen, and an HoT as the Cacti is popping, and don't need to direct heal the Zerker or Ranger at all if the Beast is fast on debuff. If the Beast is slow they will require a little direct heal at the onset, but you should be able to drop the direct heal and add DPS from the shaman. (probably switch and have your shaman HoT instead of the cleric for synergy, I just don't have a shaman in group very often).
  19. Daedly Augur

What beastlord debuff are you referring to? Cause I doubt I am doing it.
  20. yepmetoo Abazzagorath

So they should hp lock it and you have to kill sprouts to unlock 5% at a time? Because that's the only way to not it with high dps.

As was said, kill the sprouts as they spawn, then you can win with horrid dps.

Have someone spam a hotkey "/tar a_sprou" or whatever it is. Everyone assisting immediately should be no issue.
