I would like to have a way to lock the ui menu windows so when I mouse turn or try to click something I won't open up a UI window menu. I seem to do this a lot, turn in 3rd person using mouse and end up clicking a UI element and it opens up the right click menu for it and then I stop moving and need to move mouse again to be able to finish what I'm doing. I like how in a lot of other games you can use a key combo to lock ui elements so that you don't interact with them except for their intended purpose, such as targeting, spell casting or whatever.

Options -> General -> Allow Context Menus

Thank you, that put me on to the key combo I can set for it in options, keys, UI, Toggle Context Menus.
Set up Shift C to toggle that, now I can set ext tar options and group stuff still using the key toggle.

Out of curiosity, and not logged in a the moment, so can't try ... does that work for windows you've locked, don't want closed, but accidentally hit the "x" and close them anyway? Hate that. You set up the window for how you like it, close it accidentally, then have to reset it. Actually, even if I was logged in, I'm not sure I'ld want to play with it :).

You can still close a window thats locked. I sent myself a tell and with the UI context locked I was still able to close the tell window that was locked.

I figured, but thanks for checking :)

What window are you talking about, that you close and it doesn't stay how you had it? What directory is your EQ folder in?

Not really any of the primary windows, but I'll set up various chat window to separate tells, group chat, randoms, etc. I'll get them set up, lock them so I don't move them, and then months later, when I have all the filters the way I like them, I'll accidentally close one. Annoys me to no end. I know I did it, but too late to take back once I did it. :) So create another chat window, send the filters I want to it, etc. Actually, I don't normally have to reposition or size it, they seem to save that information so if I close a window and create a new one, it's back in the same size and spot. Just not the same tabs or filters.

Edit: If they ever do change this in a new UI, I would like to have a pop up window, for a window you have locked, saying something like "We think you are probably an idiot for hitting the "X" on this chat window you have locked, but do you REALLY want to close it YES or NO?" :)

The chat windows have X's on the corners to close them? I haven't used the default UI for my chat windows for well over a decade, I don't really recall there being an X on the windows to accidentally close them. But that would just be going off of the minute or so after I would log into a new character before I /copylayout my main's UI or /load it.

Bring back tabless chat windows - make it an option.
One of the main issues I have learned on returning players is the confusion of the windows. Missing messages, tabs.. it is confusing to them.
It is real easy for a returning player to lose interest in such changes in the game.

    (Options)
    Use chat windows (On/Off)
    and under that...
Use tabbed windows (On/Off) .. great idea!

I would like to add.. when making changes to UI it is HELL for us that need to know what you did to fix ours. Recently Buff / Short buff windows were changed.. it was not pleasent to seek help from others so I may fix mine. It took days.

People do not like changes in their UI.
IF changing, make it a toggle on off option so I don't have to go download tabless chat windows from eqinterface.
