I just don't agree. 1% a kill at level 2 killing level 2 mobs is just a bit silly. Slowing down experience sorta makes sense, but do it later. 1-35 should be a quick experience. slow it down 35-50 when classes are more defined.

    this is literally unplayable.

I never made level fifty before Kunark in 1999. But I was ready and able to raid Velious before Luclin. Nothing wrong with that.

This is the main issue, agreed. There's no reason for 1-5 to take several hours. I knew this was going to be awful as soon as I killed a yellow con at level 1 and got 4% exp. Are you kidding me?

I think something a lot of the people for the exp nerf are forgetting. Is this a lot of people came back to play on the TLP server that haven't touched EQ in over 10 years. I'm one of them had I known the exp was going to be this much slower I would have avoided my return and left the old school feeling intact. This was a poorly done job at getting people to re-sub and then slam you with a big exp nerf. Slowing down exp on a server with faster unlocks makes no rational sense. Except the bean counters are laughing with all the money they raked in. It's sad that game companies these days operate without a moral compass. Over the passed 20 + years of gaming I have watched countless companies finally fold up. Mostly because they received a very bad reputation for taking advantage of their player base. This has become even more of a problem with the advent of micro transactions. The people that are for this have blinders on and haven't been around gaming as long as a lot of apparently have. That or they just care so little about there hobby that they will eat whatever there given. There is a reason a lot of industries have accountability it's just a matter of time until the gaming industry has big brother step in to clean things up. Which will likely push the remaining few Western game companies out so they can dodge accountability with there customers.

You kill 25 mobs and get a new level. How many would you prefer it be?
Honest question because 25 yellow cons seem like a pretty reasonable amount for early levels to me.

I'm level 9. Pretty happy so far. Its not unplayable for me. I'll tell ya what though, soloing is for crap xp compared to grouping. Even as a solo-friendly class.

All it's going to do is refocus people on other games. I'll be shocked if this server isn't a ghostland within 60 days. Playing for an entire evening and going from 1-4 saps pretty much all your excitement.

Goes for everyone else posting hyperbole like this.

I dunno... my necro can't kill yellow cons. Pet dies instantly and with my 3 dmg dagger poking for a max hit of 6 and running out of mana after 5 cast of a 5 dmg lifetap. Just sayin =)
  10. Pseudofate Augur

No, its going to refocus YOU and those with a similar disposition onto different games. Good riddance. Less crybabies who need constant hand holding and special expedited treatment. Which will translate into less clueless people running around zone not being able to handle their pulls, less clueless people in groups not knowing the first thing about teamwork, and less people who don't want to put appropriate effort in. Ya know, effort? The word that was probably on every trophy you ever received cause you weren't actually good at anything to begin with.
  11. MBear Augur

Do you think, with no experience, you should be able to leave your guild, go out into the world, and slaughter difficult mobs alone?
How about no handholding and coaching you to level up like the more current MMOs and more "work together to survive or suffer badly"?

To be fair, you got a raw deal on the necro right now, admittedly. =(

Edit: didn't mean you personally, more of a game wide statement

And one of the existing threads wasn't sufficient to post in?

You should maybe go out and get some fresh air, Rambo.

Nothing wrong with it at the time, but most people playing right now are probably looking to raid "current" content well before Velious.

With just about every mystery of how EQ works unraveled by this point, and most classes being extremely simple to play in the first place, the thought of sitting around grinding xp and not even getting to raid until months later isn't exactly enticing. When you factor in the server being advertised for its instanced raid content, it actually seems more like a cruel joke. Draw people in with hopes of having access to early raid targets (without being in one of the top guilds and willing to batphone), and laugh as they aren't even able to raid in time anyway.

If people like the EXP decrease that's great. Me personally if I knew the exp was going to be slower than RF/LJ I would not have resubbed.

Them not telling us the exp was lower until after the server launched is wrong. They gave no indication that the EXP rate would be slower than RF/LJ the server is on set expansion release times no vote so why would they lower the exp rate?

They should have stated flat out the exp was going to be lower than RF/LJ not saying anything until after the server released is a dishonest practice and a scam.

You're trying to say that the quote from DBG is them saying this server is intended for hardcore players. That is a huge reading comprehension fail on your part. How on earth do you even get that as solid proof this server is aimed towards hardcore players?

Not only does that quote not having anything to do with being for hardcore or casuals, it's directly contradicting the need for slower exp. You don't experience things "faster" by slowing things down.

If I wanted challenge I would not be playing EQ. EQ, even current EQ, is not challenging. What makes classic EQ great is that it requires you to socialize. It requires you to group, to make friends. Every other game, including live EQ, can be solo'd (molo'd) aside from raiding. Grouping does make EQ considerably easier but every class can pretty much solo now. You couldn't in classic. If I wanted challenging raid content I'd have stuck to Mythic raiding in wow or stayed with Enigma in Wildstar where the raids are far more difficult. Having to watch cd timers is not and never will be difficult.

The way this xp is set, this server IS FOR HARD CORES ONLY. No casual can keep up at this rate. I am at level 13 at 19 hours played. That is with rogue xp bonus and 25% xp pots running throughout. After this weekend, I won't have the play time I had set aside for this server opening. What a huge let down this has been. First, they move the progression from 90 days to 84, then slap us with this xp fiasco.

DBG had better fix this before they end business for the weekend, or this will cost them a lot accounts.

I see a lot of people getting upset about the raid targets, feeling like they will miss the chance to experience Naggy and Vox when they are relevant, and I'm sort of taken aback by that.

Would it be great to experience Nagafen and Vox within the first two weeks of Phinny? Sure, but I know that when Kunark unlocks, my guild will be alternating between Kunark mobs + classic raid mobs to get epics for people, because the classic mobs will still be relevant. I don't feel like I will miss my chance to do the content... just that I will have to wait a bit and then suddenly have multiple raiding options available to me.

What is so different between the actual raids in Velious and Kunark? Maybe things are different now. Back when I did it, you could basically turn on auto attack and go make a sandwitch for most encounters. I think the tanks and healers were the only ones required to push buttons.

Occasionally there was a really hard strategy like standing near a wall to avoid AoE from random_dragon_01. I think pulling was probably the only part that required real effort. The rest could be overcome with numbers and gear.
